I have a salary account with HDFC Bank.
Right now, I have the Millennia debit card, and I recently asked for an upgrade through the HDFC Bank app.
- Will my old debit card stop working once the new Platinum debit card is activated?
- Will I have to pay an annual fee for the new card? I didn’t have to pay any fees for my current Millennia debit card.

I recently did a transaction om Sept 4th and received CB points using sbi unipay to pay CC bill
1. Yes.
2. For salary acc, the debit card is free.
Millennia credits CB points after 3 months on eligible transaction
What happens to these reward points which are to be credited after card deactivation?
1. Yes, old card will get deactivated within 3 working days of new card delivery. There's absolutely no scenario where two debit cards will stay activated in a single account, tried doing it for nearly a month and then gave up.
2. Your salary account was offered with free Millenia DC, but this doesn't ensure if the new one will be free too. Confirm with the customer care, that's your only shot.
Received reply from HDFC Bank
- Will my current Millennia debit card stop functioning once the new Platinum debit card is activated? No, you can use both the debit cards if you want but the Platinum debit card will be chargeable. The annual fee of the platinum card will be Rs. 885/-.
- Will I be charged an annual fee for the new Platinum debit card? Yes, as mentioned above, the card is chargeable.
- The Millennia debit card credits cashback points after 3 months for eligible transactions. What will happen to these pending cashback points if the Millennia card is deactivated? The eligible cashbacks will be withdrawn because of the closure of the card.

I opened a new Savings Max account with HDFC nearly 2 months ago, which they then enrolled for the Classic Banking Program. I too wanted both Platinum and Millenia DC and while the customer support said it cannot be done since only one debit card per savings account is allowed, the representative at the bank agreed. And since Platinum DC is free for Savings Max/ Classic customers, I was told that I'll have to pay for the second debit card.
Since I was already provided with Platinum DC while account opening, I then applied for Millenia. But then my Platinum DC was deactivated after 3 days without any prior information or anything. So, I eventually ended up opening another savings account only to be able to get another debit card.
Things might still be different with a Salary account, but still be cautious.
bro why do u even want it ,its useless after hdfc stopped its 1% on hdfc billpay
