Question about credit cards with shared credit limit

So I have Amazon Pay ICICI CC and ICICI Platinum chip CC. I usually use Amazon Pay card for purchases from Amazon and the other one when discounts are not applicable on the Amazon Pay card.

Recently I purchased an item from JioMart using Platinum chip CC but had to return it. Refund was given. But I had already paid the bill for the ICICI platinum CC before that. So now the card has extra balance. To "utilize" it, do I need to make some purchase using Platinum card only or because it's a shared credit limit, I can use the Amazon Pay ICICI CC and it will be automatically adjusted?

Also, in the future if I get multiple SBI or RBL bank cards with shared limit, is this handled the same way as ICICI?

Got it. Also is there a deadline by which I must utilize it or I can wait forever to use it and that extra credit will always be there on the card?

You can request customer care to transfer amount back to your bank account or the other card.

Once i had extra amount in one amex card and got it transfered to the other one

Getting it transferred to a bank should be there.

It is there for all banks but its a hassle. Axis asked me for cancelled cheque of bank account, statement of card showing negative balance, proof of payment of the extra amount.

They won't ask much and transfer if you have their bank account, but if not, its better to just spend it directly

Because of anti money laundering provisions any such refund request request if not being made to an acc under the same bank that issued the card & held by the same customer who is the cardholder, there will be kyc requirements which depending on the bank may range anything from a cancelled cheque to physical visit.

Update: So here's what I had to do to get the extra balance on the credit card transferred to my bank account in case of ICICI Credit card (it doesn't matter whether or not you have ICICI Bank account, the process is same according to ICICI Customer care).

1. Call them and tell them bank account number from which you paid towards CC. They will give you a service request (SR) number.
2. Email them bank account statement PDF of only that particular transaction towards the CC account, along with
screenshot of app using which you paid the CC bill, bank account number and IFSC (IFS code). Mention SR number in subject line. They will refund you the extra amount in a 2-3 days to the bank account from which you paid towards the CC.
