question about downgrade and debit card of idfc

is downgrade available
then we can convert to zero balance account also
IDFC also offers zero balance account which can be opened only visiting branch

Dont have idfc account.

I think downgrade is only possible if it is allowed by the branch & not all branches will allow it.

Why not, as far as I know any bank will let you downgrade the account.

Earlier(not sure now) there were many cities in which there was no option to open 10k MAB account(metro cities & some tier-1 cities) while opening IDFC online acc so how could a person who opened 25k mab acc get it downgraded to 10k mab acc in those cities. I also recently read about a comment here where the user’s request to downgrade the acc was refused by branch manager.

Weird. If there is an a savings account with a lower MAB they should oblige your request.

This is the doubt I have about many branches especially in metro/tier-1 cities. Basically it means you can open the zero balance acc but only by visiting the branch so my guess is they won’t allow it at least completely online.

This may be true because the bank would want to up sell you to a higher MAB account.

So it mean that one have to visit branch due to this?cant done at home?
time to make idfc empty. hope making it zero balance and not using it(it will stay open as closure of acc needs branch visit too) will not affect cibil.

Try calling their CC first, as it is they have very few branches..

To downgrade account you will need to visit branch only. As far as I know most banks will require you to do this.

Account opening full Online…but for closure/changes Branch or send letter to them…😭

Call up the Branch and see if they accept change request over the email ?

they don’t. they said as u have opened online so visit branch. i asked them about home service they said not available to accounts opened online.

That is common with most banks.
