Question regarding Airtel Fiber vs Jio Fiber

for 6 months Jio Fiber charges 2824.92 (399 (base plan) X 1.18(18% GST) X 6(months)) for 30Mbps plan along with 15 days extra benefit.

Total cost comes down to 2824.92 - 235.41 (Total cost of 1 month/2 i.e. 470.82/2) = 2589.51 rupees

Similarly Airtel Xstreme Fiber charges 3003 for 6 months for 40 Mbps plan.

Total cost comes down to 3003 - 300 (Airtel Axis Card 25% max benefit upto 300) = 2703

Now, I am confused. I have Jio Fiber 30 Mbps plan. Should I jump to Airtel? I have seen @Original bhai's post regarding extra speed boost given in Airtel. Is it true till today?

Jio Fiber's plan is expiring on 13th. I don't need any OTT etc you know. And I heard Airtel's broadband plan is postpaid. Is it true?

Like you, i wanted plain vanilla Fiber connection, so opted for Airtel.

First i was on 100 Mbps plan and later downgraded to 40 Mbps.

Speeds then 120-125, now 47+ Mbps

I don't know which one is best among Jio and Airtel but for last 17+ months, the connection was pretty smooth.

Go for an ISP which is reliable in your area even if you pay 10-20 bucks that's ok but quality matters. I am paying about 470rs per month for 200mbps connection

Jio fiber is best. But there is a problem with their router. 5ghz band sometimes automatically gets disconnected from all connected devices all at once and it will not let you connect for 1-2 mins. You will get denied access. I replaced the router second time yesterday. Lets see if this issue still persists. Screenshot2023-01-04-19-10-00-1541a74ddf68be21faad2fbbb691b15143

It's True, i have recently switched to Airtel Fibre, and I have noticed their 200 Mbps connection plan is giving sometimes more than 400Mbps, Its speed fluctuations are very high and useful sometimes. On 200Mbps plan, normally getting 250-270 on 5GHz, but it is also true that sometimes Router disconnects the 5Ghz band and unable to connect it until we restart it.

Not only airtel provides more speed than specified their ping is also better than jio at least in the cases where they provide connection from tower

Recently switched to Jio Fiber from Airtel Xtreme after using it for 18 months, the only reason I switched is because Jio provides OTT apps subscriptions for free with their plans and also it recently came to my place. I tested, both are really good at their services. I initially took 30 MBPS plan in Jio since Airtel is already running for this month with 40 MBPS plan, will later switch to 100 MBPS plan in Jio.

Can't comment on airtel as did not use it.

One the same boat bikibhai, was going to make the thread on next week.

Been using Jiofiber for a long time, almost 0 downtime thanks to underground cabling. Current lease is going to expire on month end, and wanted to install Airtel for a quick switch in case of price hike in future.

Only downside of switching/opting for a fresh connection is both providers sells minimum 6 months for their entry level plans. So, clock will be fixed with same speed and tenure. per month calculation will not be the best way to compare with local small tenure plans.

On a side note, Jio withdrawn all the trial, referral benefits while I can still find referral benefit in Airtel.

No experience of airtel & jio but go with whichever provide better service/support in your area but on an average I have heard airtel fiber having better support than jio.

P.S. Both have a hidden FUP of around 3.2TB per month as per online comments & the reason why I don't prefer them but good enough for a typical user. smile

pay jio fiber with amazon voucher/balance for  discount,

for non ott packs if the availability is the same in your area take the cheaper one.

In my area a lot of people have jio connection due to which jio is a bit more stable and their customer care is quick to respond.

In general speed doesn't differ too much between both though jio does too much tracking compared to Airtel, but in teir 2 3 cities   mota bhai will have better cooperation with the government so more stability for jio.

P.S.  sometimes issues on jiofibre are due to there shitty dns rather than network itself. go to you router settings and change dns to cloudflare(1.1.1.2 and 1.0.0.2) it will disable voip calls but connection will become better

no inputs from my end as both jio fiber and airtel xstream are not available in my locality (in tier 1 city), have used mtnl, tikona, hathway, tata play fiber and now on excitel. excitel currently providing the VFM plans and excellent customer support till now , recharged for a year directly after trying for 3 months.

30Mbps is plenty enough for my needs for now. Heck even slower won't be an issue thanks to ads being blocked. I will  prefer Jio Fiber over Airtel due as the former is available as Prepaid. Anyway I am trying to close all my Airtel connections. Just yesterday ported one Airtel no. to Jio for free. Might not close the DTH connection though.

Jio Fiber does deep packet inspection. It increases latency and has privacy issues.

Yes wat i observed is when there's increased latency time, its effecting wfh experience.

Stick to your Jio Fiber 30 Mbps prepaid plan.

* Haven’t had any downtime in past 2 years, not even a random minute’s downtime.

* prepaid is good, I can always not recharge for x days when I am on a trip or not at home for any reason.

* I can always recharge for the speed I want, though 30Mbps is more than enough, but occasionally due to work purpose I needed higher speed, just Pre planned and recharged with higher plans in such cases.

Lastly with the 5G unlimited at this moment .. un utilised bandwidth is too much, talking about unlimited 1Gpbs speed going down the drain.

Used both airtel and jio fiber, speed and service is good in both of them, if given a chance to pick i would definitely go for airtel fiber, as their router covers more area than jio router

Have used first Airtel 100mbps plan. Got around 125 to 140 mbps speed. Later i felt 40mbps is enough for me and shifted to that plan. As of now getting not less than 48mbps speed.

Am recharging my bb plan as PREPAID ONLY. its not postpaid.

I'm using airtel fiber for the last 10-11 months and can vouch for it. A friehas Jio but is usually always complaining about how there are issues with cloudfare , torrents etc. Both are reliable.

i have both airtel and jio fiber, if you watch TV or have any dth like tata sky , airtel or whatever DTH , i will recommend move to jio fiber and give 200 extra and you get All Tv channel ott etc.  i am using it and not recharging my tata sky.

if you dont have tv or you only want Data service then airtel fiber is good because for 40 mbps you get 50mbps , on jio if you opt 30mbps it will give 30mbps only.

before i was using airtel fiber prepaid , i also have axis airtel credit card and i used to get 25% cashback 147 rupees , so it costs me 443   per month and plus i used to recharge my dth for 300 , it used to cost me 743 per month minus some discounts on dth recharge and final cost was 680  approx. ( i used rupay platinum card to recharge apay wallet with 20% off and ten used to recharge dth)

but now i have jio fiber with jio tv plan for 30mbps at 599+gst= 707 Rupees and now also i use apay to recharge my jio fiber on myjio app , as myjio has option to pay from apay wallet . i use rupay platinum card to add money for 20% off on Friday . so it costs me 707-20%= 565 only with all OTT , all Tv channels . ott can be run on mobile devices also.

for jio  30mbps speed is enough for me , i my home 3 mobile , 1 tv , 2 laptops runs whole day and youtube runs 4k . so for me jio fiber is currently best deal.

as per above details, choose which situation you have.

you can DM me anytime i will help you as much as i can.
