Question regarding Airtel Fiber vs Jio Fiber

for 6 months Jio Fiber charges 2824.92 (399 (base plan) X 1.18(18% GST) X 6(months)) for 30Mbps plan along with 15 days extra benefit.

Total cost comes down to 2824.92 - 235.41 (Total cost of 1 month/2 i.e. 470.82/2) = 2589.51 rupees

Similarly Airtel Xstreme Fiber charges 3003 for 6 months for 40 Mbps plan.

Total cost comes down to 3003 - 300 (Airtel Axis Card 25% max benefit upto 300) = 2703

Now, I am confused. I have Jio Fiber 30 Mbps plan. Should I jump to Airtel? I have seen @Original bhai's post regarding extra speed boost given in Airtel. Is it true till today?

Jio Fiber's plan is expiring on 13th. I don't need any OTT etc you know. And I heard Airtel's broadband plan is postpaid. Is it true?

Like you, i wanted plain vanilla Fiber connection, so opted for Airtel.

First i was on 100 Mbps plan and later downgraded to 40 Mbps.

Speeds then 120-125, now 47+ Mbps

I don't know which one is best among Jio and Airtel but for last 17+ months, the connection was pretty smooth.

30Mbps is plenty enough for my needs for now. Heck even slower won't be an issue thanks to ads being blocked. I will  prefer Jio Fiber over Airtel due as the former is available as Prepaid. Anyway I am trying to close all my Airtel connections. Just yesterday ported one Airtel no. to Jio for free. Might not close the DTH connection though.

Any downtime?

First two downtimes ~ 1-2 minutes down and worked as if there was no downtime.

Third downtime happened on Saturday evening around 6:30 PM and i called Airtel team. The local engineer said as downtime is just with my connection and so it could only be restored tomorrow.

So they fixed it next morning around 10 AM and later apologised stating the cable was cut.

As this happened on weekend, i did not complain to higher authorities.

You can also consider netplus if it is available in your area.

answer to your last question -

Tier 1 cities - connections are postpaid and Tier 2 cities have prepaid billing.

If your city is served by LCO, then you should expect prepaid billing like in my case.

So, in prepaid billing, I am getting next month bill in this month bill cycle.

So on 11 Nov i opted for a 3 month 999 plan.

21 is billing cycle and i have 765₹ left after dec 21 bill which also includes 21 dec-20 jan.

Now in Jan month, I only want to get bill of 765 and just want to use this amount only.

Use till whatever date it will consuke 765 after jan month.

And after that disconnect the connection.

So how should i get bill of only 765.

I just want to get rid of this connection after consuming whatever money I have in this connection.

Go for an ISP which is reliable in your area even if you pay 10-20 bucks that's ok but quality matters. I am paying about 470rs per month for 200mbps connection

Jio fiber is best. But there is a problem with their router. 5ghz band sometimes automatically gets disconnected from all connected devices all at once and it will not let you connect for 1-2 mins. You will get denied access. I replaced the router second time yesterday. Lets see if this issue still persists. Screenshot2023-01-04-19-10-00-1541a74ddf68be21faad2fbbb691b15143

It's True, i have recently switched to Airtel Fibre, and I have noticed their 200 Mbps connection plan is giving sometimes more than 400Mbps, Its speed fluctuations are very high and useful sometimes. On 200Mbps plan, normally getting 250-270 on 5GHz, but it is also true that sometimes Router disconnects the 5Ghz band and unable to connect it until we restart it.

Bro, in my recommendations, set the DHCP server lease time to around 5 to 10 minutes on 5GHz, then if your Router DHCP server handles it properly, you will get auto renewal of local ip even after disconnection issues happen on 5GHz in future.

I have experienced only 4 downtimes in 3 years with Jio fiber. 🙂 Hey, Airtel gives Nokia router. Right!

In case, the above solution doesn't help then, you can try by disabling DHCP, so your Router will give static fixed Local IP to individual MAC address, so in case of disconnection, your devices will quickly re-connect.

Bro, try to find DHCP wherever your router mentions it, either in WAN or LAN , or Networks
