As a per TRAI rule sim gets deactivated after 6 months for no activity.
So first confirm with customer support if that’s not the case.
1st try to call that number from another number if there is incoming……
If yes, then recharge with any plan.
If no, you loose your number and can’t be active.
lol may be that number has assigned to other, in this case also he will get incoming 
Few days back people in some other thread confirmed that their 1 year old jio number is working fine without any recharge. So, why is yours not working? Your city?

Inaugural time ones.
Mnp or sim bought ayear or so back gets deactivated.
Dont forget to switch on the VOLTE bar in phone settings if you are recharging afrer quite sometime.
If its Turned off , even after recharge you won’t be able to make calls.
Switch on the volte bar
first call 198 from that sim and ask customer care that how much recharge it needs ..then do accordingly
AFAIK Jio dont deactivate sim ..
i have 2 sim cards never recharged since 2 years and both sims are working 
I have re activated my jio sim after 4 years. As i had suspended it through jio website at that time.
My sim is blocked not working
