I was using my SBI Prime card to pay for rent using Redgiraffe and getting about 5% cashback each month as points.
Today, I got this SMS from bank:
“Dear SBI Credit Cardholder, w.e.f 25 Jul’19, Red Giraffe will no longer be a part of the list of Billers available on Easy Bill Pay. We will be unable to process your Standing Instruction payment for Red Giraffe & request you to pay the biller directly. We regret the inconvenience caused.”

Is there another way to pay and still get the rewards?
Any other dimers in the same boat?

We regret to inform you that due to certain techno-commercial glitches faced by SBI Card on their BillPay, platform lately, RedGirraffe Services shall not be made available on SBI Card until further notice.

SBI Card shall be reaching out to each one of you if the company intends to charge an additional fees for the transaction going forward.

If you wish to opt for any other leading banks offering RedGirraffe services on their credit cards, please register such interest on our platform and we shall let another Credit Card issuer get in touch with you.

In the interim, please ensure that you take off your standing instruction from SBI Card for next month.

You may choose to pay the next months rent using any other credit card that you may have say
HDFC Bank,
ICICI bank,
Yes Bank,
Kotak Mahindra Bank,
IndusInd Bank etc
Or, you may wish to make online internet payment until the time we assist you to get a RentPay enabled new credit card issued.

You may also use the internet banking route of rental payout via RedGirraffe’s Internet Banking route and also avail EXCLUSIVE Loss of Job general insurance cover for up to 6 months of your Rental payments

(in the unfortunate incident of Loss of Job, Accidents, Critical Illness or listed Surgeries)

We apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. SBI Card shall be reaching out to you separately as well to intimate the change.

Red Giraffe charges are 0.39% of Rent Amount + gst. It will comes out to Approx. Rs.45-50 per Rs.10000.

RedGiraffe is only used for registration of the Bill, you do not have to pay the bill through their site. You can use any wallet or bank’s Bill payment facility that accepts RedGiraffe as a biller.

  I use PayZapp for payment and use code BILLPAY which gives Rs.250 (max) cashback and is more than fees charged by RedGiraffe. Rewards points earned on the credit card are Bonus and can help achieve targeted spends.

Is it necessary that rent payment can be made only 1 day prior to the due date ( due date as mentioned while registering on redgirraffe,) on payzapp and not before?

How many days payzapp and redgirraffe takes to credit the same in owner account by your experience?

The “bill” gets generated 15-20 days prior to due date mentioned during registration. You can pay it any time you want. I think it would take 2 working days for credit though I never asked my landlord as I usually pay a week in advance.

Forgot to mention that bill can be paid only up to 2 days prior to due date. So, don’t wait until last day for payment. This is for bank to ensure that landlord gets money by due time.

One last thing since  payzapp is a manual payment and  not automated payment every month ( unlike smartpay of HDFC bank internet banking) the redgirraffe bill will lapse automatically ( on or 2 days prior to due date) if we do not want to  pay by same every month. Hope my understanding is correct

Correct, no compulsion to pay every month through Redgiraffe or PayZapp

To people using RedGiraffe, landlord’s PAN is mandatory during registration. Is there any way to register a biller without landlord’s PAN? I have a valid rental agreement.

But when I try to pay through payzapp it gives error “Error occured while processing request with biller”
Any remedy? anyone facing the same issue?

I just checked after your post and got error in first attempt but PayZapp was able to retrieve bill details in it’s second attemp. Give it sometime and try again, as you have newly registered it make take sometime to get updated in their backend. If problem continues till tomorrow, contact Redgiraffe with details. They would be able to help.

i think Now they have stopped giving 10x . i did not get mine, and many others are reported the same. Now hdfc is saying they have stopped.

No, RG people said its payzapp issue and sent me direct link to pay rent thru HDFC CC.
They do not understand 10x rewards.
So left it now.
