Redmi 6A restarting continuously. How to fix it?

As the title says, my redmi 6A has been restarting continuously since morning. I cannot even power off using the power button.

I was trying to update Chrome but it was failing everytime so I  uninstalled google photos and google duo, after which the phone restart problem began.

The phone boots up all the way to home screen. I can open settings or any other app but in next two seconds, the phone restarts.

I got into recovery mode thinking to wipe cache partition but that option isn't there, only reboot, wipe data options are there.

Wipe data is my last option. What else can I  try before wiping data? I don't know if wiping data will even fix the problem.

I can even get into fastboot mode, but no idea what to do from there.

Fastboot mode is of no use (Bootloader locked + Android/USB debugging disabled)

This is software issue and can be fixed via "Recovery - Data Wipe" (The only option). Not sure if MTP mode works with safe mode but if it does then u can get the data backed up by booting into safe mode

That's what I was afraid of.

Similar cases I've read about had the flash memory worn out of excessive writes (like SSDs go read only). Only a full flash/reset can confirm this though... Make your own call from suggestions...

Redmi 6/6A has issue of dying flash memory in which the software is installed. Restarting of phones can be due to various factors like corrupted software, battery fuse resistor value increased, thermal sensor missing, bad emmc health, power IC faulty, lose connection of components with PCB pads. It is very hard to tell what exactly causing this problem without physical diagnosis. But in my experienced it could be due faulty emmc or bad fuse resistor of battery. One thing you can check put your phone in charging & see if the phone is booting or not. Could you tell me does your phones restarts randomly or in every fixed interval.

For switching off your phone hold power button with combination of vol/down for few seconds. Even if it does not off the last resort is wait until the battery drain out itself.

Here, the phone boot loops only after the OS gets loaded, not happening through the booting phase or via fastboot / recovery mode.. So i guess we can rule out the hardware faults
Probably its the uninstallation (corrupted software) that triggered it (Experienced similar issues while trying to uninstall/hide system apps via adb)

@Mufasa Boot loop is exactly the same everytime. The Os loads completely, the homescreen is visible and then phone restarts in next 2-3 seconds. I cannot even power off the phone. Holding power button+Vol down button does not power off.

So looks like my only option here is to wipe the data via recovery mode and see if that fixes the issue.

Phone is not rooted.

If the data is not important, then wipe the user data.

@Mufasa @getready Does booting into safe mode and cleaning cache and/or updating/reinstalling the apps I had uninstalled before this problem started, fix the issue?

Is it even possible to boot redmi 6a into safe mode? If yes, how?

I don't think there is option to boot android phones in safe mode. Does your phone restart even in charging?

I remember years ago just disabling the Google app in my bootloader locked Redmi 3s resulted in the device going into an infinite bootloop necessitating a visit to the service center.

P.S. In devices with eMMC 5.0/5.1 and running on minimum kernel 4.x, the system keeps a record of the NAND flash used up which can be checked with root. My 5.5+ years old Redmi 3s only has used up 20-30% so far and has greater than 80% of the reserve blocks still available.

P.P.S. Surprisingly there's some custom ROM development for this MTK device. Even an A12.1 ROM is available. A12's RAM usage is on par with A10 (both way better than A11 in this regard ) so should be usable even in 2GB RAM based on my experience with my 2GB Redmi 3s.

For old MTK devices there used to be unofficial methods of unlocking bootloader IIRC...
