Redmi note 4 exchange on Amazon

Hi everyone, I've got a issue and would really appreciate some help on this.
I have a Redmi note 4 (64/4) it's on the latest stock miui version (android 7). I am trying to exchange it on Amazon to buy a new phone (Redmi k50i). The exchange value I'm getting is 6100.
I read the t&c for the exchange and it says that the Amazon app needs to be installed on the device which needs to be exchanged and I'll have to sign in and input an OTP at the time of exchange.
The problem is that the Amazon app is not compatible anymore with Android 7. I've checked around and installed old version of Amazon app (18.19.0.300), which was supposed to be working but other dimers have confirmed that it stopped working from mid of Aug 22.
Any suggestions or ideas on how to get it this exchange done now.
Amazon on the exchange section says that fixed exchange price so I assume they might be okay with any working condition phone. So is the OTP step mandatory.
Any suggestions would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Prior to delivery.. call the executive and ask if this app installation is mandatory. If he says "Yes", then root your device unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom of latest OS versions
Which phone you are buying?

Thanks for the suggestion I'll give it a try actually I'm really bad at rooting and custom roms. So was resisting this option. I might as well risk trying it now.

Sometimes they don't require you to login in the exchange device. ( recently experience with exchange order, it was normal exchange and delivery guy didn't asked to login in the exchange app) Order delivery OTP is mandatory.
This gives me some hope of ordering without rooting or modding the phone. Could you pls mention which phone was it that you exchanged.
Edit: could you please also mention what checks were done before taking the phone. While I know it will vary from customer to customer but it will help me be better prepared I hope

Ordered OP Nord 2T 5G exchanged with Realme 3i
These were recent exchange where delivery guy didn't asked to login in exchange device.
Just normal exchange device verification was done.

Try it first. If it doesn't work flashing a custom ROM as long as bootloader unlocking permission is already granted, takes hardly 10 minutes. You can perhaps ask the delivery guy to come again the next day.
P.S. I had read only the UPI part wasn't working. Instead the app itself doesn't work anymore in A7 and lower?

Lots of other similar complaints on Amazon help forums as wellTry it first. Hi all an update on my situation.
TL;DR
Exchange was done successfully. Some minor checks were done.
Detailed version:
I had already unlocked the bootloader earlier so only had to flash twrp and root the phone.
I did that using the help of YouTube video and and in its process the phone got formatted. Once the entire process was done a Amazon app was installed by default. Now this version was very old but allowed me to access order history and didn't redirect to chrome. Basis this I took the risk and placed an exchange order. Everything was working fine on the app except the home page where is showed that app needs to be updated.
The agent came late next day and was a bit late and had other orders to deliver as well. So didn't do too many checks. Checked all buttons were working. Any dents on the phone or body. Checked brightness setting.
Then he asked to open order history on the note 4 via the app. Then he input some details on his device. And didn't do anything else. When I asked what did he do. He said after inspection he is supposed to initiate exchange in his phone and then generated OTP is to be input in the exchanged device. But in my case it didn't give that prompt at all so he just took the device. Before that he asked me to logout of my Google account. Also uninstalled the Amazon app. Order delivery OTP (which came on my primary device) was shared and done.
After he left I checked again on my mi and Amazon account that the device was removed and not showing.
So finally the exchange done and getting used to k50i however I'll still miss the note 4 after the rooting process it became butter smooth and due to its form factor (more width than length) was really refreshing to use, I had bought the phone in 2017 and was like a good loyal friend or a pet. It's metal body had taken a lot of hits, screen was still vibrant and with some tweaking could still be a daily driver. But I fell for the temptation of exchange value and k50i processor. Hope this phone lives up to the hype. If you have read the post this far, thanks. Special thanks to all dimers who replied here and helped me take a leap of faith to initiate the exchange.

Even your OnePlus 6t I heard was a very durable device. A few of my friends still hang on to one.

I am also using Redmi Note 4 from last 5.5 years. Have placed exchange order in Flipkart for Realme GT neo 3T, exchange value 5700. Delivery is expected either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Fingers crossed

You just rooted the device and didn't flash any custom ROM?

When you bought this phone, it came with Amazon app pre installed? That's why it came back when you formatted.

However my view is that even without the app the agent would have accepted the phone since that OTP thing wasn't needed. And I assume it wasn't needed since amazon set a fixed price for this model. It was even mentioned in the exchange value section (fixed exchange value of 6100). While for other models we have to select the condition of the exchange model.
