Regarding Airtel Xstream Safe Custody

Hi All,
I am using Xstream fiber plan of Rs. 499+GST. As I am going out of station, I want to pause/disconnect the connection for 1.5-2 months. When I enquired about Safe Custody option, CC told the charges will be Rs. 200+GST per month.
Its almost 50% of the tariff which I don't want to pay.
CC suggested to disconnect the connection which will be effective only after Router is collected by airtel staff (within 7 days) which is not possible as I have to leave the city in 1 day only.
Is there any way to avoid or reduce this charge?

i am not sure if this works but since you have no time suggesting this... don't recharge and carry on with your journey. If they disconnect because of no recharge plan then it is fine, leave it like that. You wont be there at home in these 2 months anyway if those guys comes to check the issue or to collect the router/safe custody bill. Now when you are back after 2 months, recharge it with same plan or other if it works.

They won't come for collecting router and if they do, tell them I am out of station.

Router is customer property as far as i know. It's free as they say, just the wiring and all they can collect.

no, router is not customer's property as most ISP's provide routers without any security deposits or installation charges for new connection, so at then end you have to return the router..
if your ISP is taking security deposit then you can keep the router but then you can't get the security deposit (1000-1500) back.

if your connection is prepaid.. then do nothing.

if postpaid then it's better to raise disconnection request, they will then call 2-3 times for reasons for disconnection, tell them your exact problem, maybe you can pause your connection without paying anything... if they don't agree then tell them to proceed with disconnection.. after that they will send someone to pickup only the router and adapter in 1-2 days (leave the router with neighbour or some frnds )

@veteran-hunter If your billing is near or yet to come then you can try to convert your connection to prepaid... then don't recharge for coming months till you don't use it.. well not sure if it works or not but you can try.
