Airtel Officials said that Reliance Jio had reduced the ringing time for outgoing calls to other networks, from 45 to 20 seconds only, leading to a lot of customer inconvenience since the calls are cut off even before the customer receives.
Once a customer receives a missed call, he/she usually calls back the originating operator’s network. By converting such outgoing calls to incoming calls, they get interconnect usage charge which is 6 paise per minute and artificial traffic.
I was shocked for a second after reading this because a month ago I have also read that, Within three years of starting its commercial operations, Reliance Jio has become the country’s largest telecom operator with a subscriber base of 331.3 million, surpassing Vodafone Idea which on Friday reported a decline in its user base to 320 million by June 2019. Jio has brought abrupt changes in the telecom industry in India but I was still wondering why would they do all this again.
P.S.
After knowing this, I have tried calling my friend’s Airtel number from my Jio number and It just rang for 18 seconds before getting disconnected automatically. Also, I have tried calling my Jio number from my friend’s Airtel number and it rang for 45 seconds before getting disconnected automatically.
Now I was not sure if doing this is legal or not and if this is a dirty business tactic or not, but I wanted you people to know this.

Yes bro. I think they made some statements. But there are no forms to illegal this activity. Let’s see what happens
Matter is dispute with TRAI.
IT IS WRONG.
BUT AIRTEL AIN’T SAINT EITHER, AIRTEL TO JIO CALLS VERY PROBLEMATIC
Why trai allowing this kind of activities as they knew that this is wrong model.
Yes. It’s happening even on my jio number from a few months. Circle :- Karnataka
I think total country experiencing the same.
Well I would rather say its Tit For Tat for Chortel.
Chortel has been looting in variety .
No one thing it has which is ethical .
Chortel is getting taste of its deeds.
Ser ko sava ser mila hai.
And Trai is just there since ages to Try the patience of common man.
Trai was Deaf and Dumb and Blind in Chortel Era so let it be the way also now.
Well said bro
I fear now if all other telecoms follow jio way and reduce the ring time!! then??
TRAI is becoming another parrot in cage of big bullying business houses…be it mobile, broadband or cable tv!!
Ha ha. If Mukesh made one way, everyone should on it. Otherwise, TRAI make others to follow it.
Latest news: Jio increased ringing time by 5 seconds
Means effective ringtone time is 25 sec.
Whats logic behind less ring? Maybe networks get less busy so easy connection for all?
Yes, this is what they are telling.
Soon operators may come up with 30rs monthly plan for extended ringtone service.
Be wary.
Yeah
Latest update:
https://www.news18.com/amp/news/tech/now-jio-ai...
Airtel and voda both have moved on to the 25 sec ringtone
This is really inconvenient now with 20-25 secs ringtone. Most calls are shown as missed calls
Exactly.
I didn’t knew that ‘calling’ operator has to pay share to the ‘receiving’ operator..
But, I had tested this automatic disconnection some months back, Jio-to-BSNL and Idea-to-BSNL Idea calls from Idea rang for about a minute (20 rings) and from Jio last only 20-22 second (5-6 rings)
Then, I made up my mind not to call back and informed all relatives and friends (Jio customers) to redial immediately if calls disconnect.
