If I redeemed the credit card reward points and returned the order later, how would the card company reverse the reward points?
assuming the unutilized reward point is less than the credited reward points. (or zero)
- Will they make the reward points as -ve, that will be deducted from future earnings?
Is this handled differently by different credit card companies? I would like to know what happens in case of hdfc cards.

Thanks for confirming for Amazon ICICi.
Don't think so they would give you back any points either you'll have to keep products and if you get faulty one you could replace it but can't return.
Why I am speaking is if a bottle costs 40 Rs and 1 reward point equals 0.25 Rs then they will surely be listed for a price of 40 + shipping charge let say 50 then total 90 x 4 points = 360 points.
So they are using 90 Rs points from rewards.
While I understand your point but If you have a workaround, you can do anything.
Please stick to the original question that I have raised, rather than questioning if it is possible or not.
In SBI CARD, they will convert it in Cash and bill in Next billing cycle.
They will adjust on your new rewards points they will deduct your reward points until the revered points are not adjusted.
Once I got 3% cashback on Amazon pay ICICI CC instead of 2% on insurance payment and I checked my statement and found that cashback of 2 months is not credited when I call coustomer card they say that I have earned extra cashback so they are not credited future cashback until it was adjusted.I told him that inform me if you are doing such things they become speechless at that time.
