Everytime I try to search anything in WhatsApp (Android), it is giving me error "not found" even if the search word clearly exists. Any idea why?

It has been broken since months
Any workaround?

Having multiple chats, chats with many links.
Although if application itself is buggy, little hope than to wait.
(Or to switch to GBwhatsapp or other stable, reliable modified versions.
Been using a few since years, found two at-least which have robust anti-ban and so there are no issues from the end of Facebook/Meta banning the number.)

It does the prefix search in your local chat messages. PD3 would work in your case.

@Budhe-Baba You can only do a StartsWith search, not a Contains search... Bole toh starting letters must match... Indexes work only on prefix searches...

And upon testing, realise that partial keystring search from a longer keystring (that too an alphanumeric one) is not working in whatsapp UNLESS the start of the searched partial keystring and the start of the keystring in the chats
are both a match!
[In the example (check image above), the search for "X×X×X×" from within "mangalamX×X×X×" fails.
Likewise for searching just 'gala' from within "mangalamX×X×X×".
But as soon as one starts searching for m/man/ mang.. the whatsapp search too finds the results.]
And just to rule this out from being a device specific issue, I tested it in the native messaging (SMS) application and it works just fine.

Thus, this could indeed be an issue with (even modded) whatsapp itself.
