Roof leaking. Need advice.

Hi. Our roof is leaking and water is coming in from above the kitchen. The house is less than 4 years old. Contractor has obviously done shoddy work and we knew it only after moving here. Now how do I fix this? Relaying the entire roof seems too costly.

What can be done? Do you think sheet metal roofing above the terrace is a good idea? What will be the cost? We are not in a financially good place now due to recurring hospital bills.

Sheet metal roof covering is the optimal solution even though it might cost a bit initially ( worth doing it even if you have to borrow money for the same ) , it takes care of the leak, also protects the paint, makes the house indoors cooler and the building will last longer with lesser maintenance issues. All the other leak-proof solutions for concrete roofs in the market are temporary and at the most will lasts 7 years if you are lucky.

Got a quote of 180rs per sqft today for that. Damn its costly.

You don’t recommend chipping and laying the roof again? It seems affordable and that’s what everyone is suggesting.

If there are few cracks, use M-Seal

If possible, post the photo of the cracks to get better idea. We had similar problem a few months ago ( there were small cracks ), we used what @Sudarshan61 suggested and it worked fine. About 6 months no issues. But I don’t think it is a permanent solution so we might need to repeat it. With small cracks M-Seal should also work as @saucap suggested smile

Roof size is 35*50.

Leaking above kitchen and utility area and wetness in connected bathroom next to it. A pool forms above the hall as well in the middle.

Also wetness noticed a little bit in corners in opposite side of the home rooms.

Going by the image, one quick fix is, buy 1kg of black cement and 200ml of Dr. Fixit URP. Mix water with cement plus one cap of Dr. Fixit URP per 50g of cement. Make a thin consistency. Pour it on the spot near and around the outlet pipe.
