All my devices are are on the September Play Services update.
Zero issues in my device rooted with KSU.
In one device rooted with MD (Zygisk disabled) I could get HDFC to work in Island but had to use HMA to get it to work in the Mainland. No such luck in case of iMobile. However at least I could get it to work in the Work Profile although I had to disable a bunch of modules including LSPosed and Riru.
In my lone unrooted device (that too running MIUI ) no crashes of any kind so far.
Embarrassingly I couldn't get Red Rail app to work in the Mainland, in case of MD, no matter what I tried. Had to use it in Island.
Edit: @some1anywhere Barely a day later and problems for rooted users! Again no issues in case of KSU. I am not aware of any MTK device with KSU support even very recent ones whereas it's available for 7+ years old QC devices!

Let me know if you figure out a way for imobile

I guess I have been lucky as I haven't faced any issue so far. Especially as I last recharged months ago.
Who roots their primary phone in 2023 🙄
I mean any benefits like we had before?

Apart from recording calls, absolutely nothing, at least not for me. Had Google offered call recordings nobody would have bothered with rooting and all.

Why do you root in 2023? I left Android scene so no idea why people still root? Xposed framework is gone I believe, adblock doesn’t require root (pvt dns) what’s left?
Mera to roor nahi hai.. par almost sare app issue aa raha? Paytm hdfc and many more.. some saying no internet.. seems issue with google?

Paytm keep saying rooted device while i have redmi note 10 pro.. on android 14
Never rooted.. still warranty left.. seems issue with paytm.. saw similar msg on twitter
Does anyone get the error "App registration with CL failed" in Paytm when trying to pay with UPI?
My device gives this trouble often. Because of this error, almost all main UPI Apps like Paytm, PhonePe, GPay and other UPI Apps stop working. I get error for even balance check through UPI.

It's working ok bro not root detected by any banking apps including Imobile app
After uninstalling DevOptsHide LSPosed module iMobile started working in the Mainland as well.
HDFC was detecting the presence of HMA. Ironically one could hide HMA using... HMA itself.
Looks like banking apps have pivoted to inferring root from the presence of apps which inherently require root to function as otherwise straightforward root detection has become more difficult especially after KSU entered the game. After Shizuku now it's LSPosed modules. Anyway a little excitement and normalcy is restored.

One can keep the DevOptsHide module installed and enabled for apps other than iMobile. Developer Options can also be enabled and iMobile only gives a warning. However if USB Debugging is also enabled then the app refuses to work.

Yes. Apparently iMobile has become better at detecting Developer Options or rather USB Debugging. The modules need an update. However staying on an older version is a temporary solution as sooner or later the older version will stop working. Pockets is the perfect example.

For all the usual reasons. You had mentioned that you had dabbled in Android development so I don't need to elucidate any further. In case of some other fellows I have felt that it's akin to explaining Cricket to Americans!
Root access allows even a novice user like me to gain full control of any device for better or worse. It's even more important for older devices particularly to prolong battery longevity. Custom ROM users are highly likely to use their devices for several years. There are several other reasons too numerous to list. Some are admittedly esoteric.
Funnily or probably not, Steve Jobs was a certified control freak but Apple goes out of it's way to allow it's users even a modicum of control!

Potentially an easy fix, courtesy of a TG user, if indeed root is hidden properly. Once Phonepe detects a device is rooted it stores the device ID and doesn't allow UPI usage even if the device is unrooted afterwards. Use the Device ID Changer app from Play Store to deal with it. Wiping app data and reboot is necessary.
in my opinion currently kernelsu>>>magisk delta>magisk alpha>>>magisk. kernelsu doesn't require additional safetynet modules and takes negligible battery. magisk delta is based on original magisk but it is updated more frequently and have bootloop protection, disable magisk, core-only mode. magisk alpha is also based on original magisk but it is not fully open source. it has newer version of shamiko exclusively and have almost similar features of magisk delta. original magisk doesn't have hidemagisk (different from hide the magisk app).
