S20 FE 5G Users - Is your phone volume okay?

Can't really figure it out if it's a bug or a speaker-related issue. The phone volume is like 10% when set @ 50%. Be it I use for media or call. The main speaker as well as the earpiece.

It's totally fine when I set it at 100-80%. It's as loud as it should be. But after 50% the problem starts.

Have uploaded a 20 seconds video here where I am playing a song in 100-0% volume. You can check for a better understanding.

https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S/Vo...

I am on the latest September patch, and read on the internet that the latest patch has many bugs. And some suggested wiping the cache, turning Dolby Atmos off, did that but no change.

The phone is still in the return period BTW. Suggest what to do?

Update: Today was the appointment date. This time it was given to some other operator. But again similar call, asking me to install the minspect app. I asked her to call me after 30mins.

Meanwhile, I called the previous operator and asked if he received my appointment, he gave a hint that even though he registered using multiple names in Amazon as an operator, this ain't his. He told me you must have received a call from a girl whose Hindi is unclear, kind of regional language mix. I am like bro?!

I then attended her call and told her that this is my second and last attempt and that the previous operator wasted time. She did similar tests and said she will write a return email from her end. After 30mins I got an email saying the service completed. Then I tried to place a replacement request and it worked. But now the expected delivery date is Oct 10 to Oct 22. By then I might get a scratch on the phone, already handling very delicately. sweat_smile

Feels like its not a good idea to report this to Amazon. What if amazon sends a reminder to the technician to physically showup and get the inspection done? Chances of rejection will be higher then..? Once i was asked to record a video of the defect (tablet*) and share the Google drive link (he needed high quality video) and approved the return within an hour

Oh,
On my s10 lite (s20 fe's predecessor) it was exclusive to earphones.
Most probably looks like a software bug, which they'll hopefully address.

bad thing about phone manufacturer (inc. apple ) is that they don't provided information  on what they fixed on software update of bug fixes in change logs.... confused

I'd suggest check on Samsung Members app with s20 fe search filter (if it's a known issue) Btw Which SW version are you on?

I'd suggest get it thoroughly checked before your return period lapses because i gifted my sister a m52 5G and it has weird issue where during calls only Bluetooth and speakers are active.
After two Service centre session, the best they do is format the phone and hand it back to you after few days.

M series are infamous for strange issue but I'm surprised S 20 fe (wildly popular) having that issue

I am on the latest September version. I asked in this device telegram group as well. A member said he is hearing about this issue for the first time. And he confirmed that his device doesn't behave like this.

Or maybe my speaker isn't calibrated properly, his phone is 1 year old. He is also on the same software version.

I will search on Samsung members app tomorrow, thanks for the search filter trick buddy.

BTW in reddit I found one similar case, but that is it. 😬

I guess you are not alone.Even I'm also having the same issue in my samsung 20fe.I was thinking of full reset. The speaker is not calibrated properly .
If we reduce the volume less than 50 it seems like the speaker is very very low.Need to keep it next to ear in order to hear it.

Checked the Samsung member forum. No one has this issue.

Try safe mode.

on reset - reset all settings.

Check if there is a volume limit on

Settings>sound and vibration>volume>click the hamburger menu (upper right)>media volume limit. Turn it off. found this on Samsung forum.

Found many similar complaints (caused by a software update) for A/M series phones on Samsung community.

1. Try safe mode and see if the same issue occurs even there
2. Factory reset

If the issue still remains then request replacement/refund. For every minor issue, samsung demands motherboard replacement (They don't seem to be doing firmware downgrades at service center). Even though they will do it for free now, opening up a device (well within the refund/replacement period) doesn't sound right.

Any idea if it's started after the update or you bought it recently and didn't notice properly before updating like me?

It was there before the September update.I bought during may and it was not there previously.Recently it got messed up.

I was not giving it importance during the initial days. But definitely it was not this low.

Thanks. Let me try downgrade to the July or August patch and see if it helps else have no option but to place a replace request.

Tried safe mode, factory reset, and then, at last, downgraded to July security patch using Odin. No change. Just place a replacement request but Amazon saying a technician will visit first and according to the report we will take action. Aren't they doing direct replacements these days? I have sent an email with the video also to the ecr team.

No direct replacements even for renewed mobiles/tablets (Technician visited last time to confirm the issue)

Update: Now after an hour, I am seeing the sound is better on the July patch actually, Compared the sound with a Redmi phone, a minor difference in the 30% level, that's it.

Recorded a full video in the July patch, currently again updating to the September patch, to compare for the last time, and if there is a huge difference will head back to the July patch and cancel the amazon appointment, will keep the device.

That's some spirit. If one can turn off updates , then any device will last at least 3-4 years.
