Okay, not really intended to make you worry too much but had to share this evolving news around Samsung phones continued issues with battery expanding/swelling.
See this video from Mrwhosetheboss:
P.S.: I am a Samsung S20+ user, mom uses a Samsung M51 and just bought a Samsung S21FE for the missus in the recent sale. Now, I'm worried!

That's the interesting bit. These incidents seem to be happening mostly with Samsung phones, and they are not even big on ultra-fast charging.
Most of their phones (barring 1-2) support max 25W charging. Despite that, seeing these issues with the world's largest smartphone maker are worrying!
Looks like they took the batteries from poco
Back then i was to buy phone and was considering samsung , i heard that samsung note 7 exploding issues and message by dgca that anyone with samsung jote 7 wont be allowed boarding ,, and note 7 was their flagship phone at that time
I thought if samsung cannot make quality control even in their flagship so cosly phone , god knows what they do in their non-flagship phone
Stay away from samsung , Lg are crap too better to stick with iphone-american /nokia-finnish/ maybe motorola which at least have clean interface
I had a htc phone and its good so far , battery last for like 7 days i use it only for calling
I'm not sure if people have actually watched the video or not but he clearly states this only happens to phones that were completely discharged and kept aside for a loooong time. Daily use doesn't cause the issue and they don't just "Blow Up" they bulge. That being said samsung should and is looking into the issue and should take responsibility of these devices.
They even state in the video that phones that are in use aren't affected by this at all. Unless u have a couple of s20/21/22 lying around in your cabinet and you plan on hoarding them for the next 2-3 years with fully discharged you basically have nothing to worry about.
Li-ion batteries should be stored at 40% charge for longterm storage and not completely discharged. I noticed Xiaomi does so at 30% SOC for replacement batteries. Still it's a mystery that it only seems to afflict Samsung devices.
Troubling news for Samsung + buyers . If this news get wide media attention, people will start getting anxious with every phone (new) delivered with 0% charge (Happened with quite a few phones in the recent times with 1+ yr old manufacturing date, the most recent one being Mi 11T pro from Croma ). That being said, i have 5+ phones (purchased from 2015-2018) lying around with 0% charge and none experienced battery bulging (Some don't pickup charging instantly but eventually they do.. after 10/20min)
Who needs grenades when you have Samsung phones at your disposal
Have seen people using 4-5 years old Samsung phones including my mother a5-2017 working in absolute good ux.
While hardly seen anybody uding Chinese vendors phone in working condition after 2-3 years.
Now many will comment on Poco F1.
That phone is somehow holding good which may be an exception.
Xiaomi devices are equally durable if the custom ROM scene is considered. Massively larger sample size than your anecdotal evidence. Besides personally I have 2 budget Redmi devices deep into their 6th year running well albeit both needing a touchscreen replacement years later. Did suffer numerous falls which might have been a factor in the touch dying and/or Xiaomi's infamous cost-cutting at work. Buggy MIUI updates can be to blame for unmodified devices not lasting very long.
Samsung is crap looting people
Mine 1.5 y old s20plua got white screen , no physical damage watsoever
Now they asking for 18k to replace sscreen
Just search how many S series mobiles are getting display issues JUST AFTER warrenty period is over and after a feburary update
And now this battery issue
I am scared to keep any samsung device around me while i go to sleep now . Only god knows shall i wake up or will i get a new deformed exploded face
Everyone wants 100W rapid charge, when a sane 18W is looked at as backdated, right? Not only samsung, each brand going for such rapid charge is susceptible to fire and blasts...
