I have SBI card and last month got bill around 47500.. I got around 1200 refund from flipkart & paid 47000 separately.. Now they have charged me Rs. 1900+350 GST.. Stating that you had paid 500 less.. and the refund you got will be adjusted in next statement.. Shocked to hear that.. I used to pay the pending amount in other bank also and haven't got any problems yet.. But this SBi has it's own rule. Anyone else face same issue?? Will they revert charges? Guys pls beware & Don't rely on rely on refunds.. Always pay full amount

in every bill statement they mention this… Refund is not considered as payment. and you have to pay full amount regardless of refund if any received

Nothing shocking here, that's the process. Not all banks consider a refund as a payment. . Just imagine if you have 50k due on your card and your card limit is 1.5L, now what you are doing every month is, ordering something online worth 50k+ and canceling, if they consider a refund as a payment you are just extending the due date of your previous due amount. This way one can extend till unlimited days. It's a loss for them.

But in T&C they are also clear “Refunds are not considered payments”
Every bank has the same rule though many adjust refund
@chiraggyl170 best way is to pay full amount and ask them to refund it to source

Amex, HSBC and Citi consider refund as payment and reduce the net due amount for the month.
ICICI, HDFC and SBI do not consider.

and similarly customer care is also like that only, ICICI, SBI or HDFC will never listen to any reasoning and they will not remove any charges later once they apply them. Amex, Citi does remove them if you give good reason to them.

Update: received 1037 reversal only.. out of 1900+342 GST..
And now they charged 234 in this month statement.. called them they said they are not able to see transaction.. wrost experience with sbi now.. thinking to close my card

They did it again with me..

After the recent update from RBI that refund needs to be adjusted in the same statement..

I had a 20k refund from Flipkart.. out of 80k bill.. i paid 60k..
And they charged me 2900 financial charges..

Not sure what to do.. SBI is not adhering RBI norms

SBI is one of the biggest chors. They try to loot you every possible way. Even card due sms comes after last day. I missed payment by 1 day but still they charged penalty. After burning hand twice, enabled auto payment thru NACH. Better to close SBI card.
