SBI Card received twice with same card number | pls suggest | urgent

I had applied and received SBI credit card in past month.

Again I received one more card with same card number. It seems suspicious and wierd.
What needs to be done now?

- Same care variant (Simply Click VISA Platinum)
- Card number exactly same
- different CVV
- different valid upto(one month diff)

What kind of enhanced feature? Can 2 card have same card number?

Yes, two cards can have same number for a unique person. Enhanced feature means new security measure added. It wouldnt affect your auto-debit instructions.

My guess is that your old card details were probably leaked in the recent 4 lakh Indian bank cards details leaked on dark net. In such cases banks have no choice other than to issue a new card as it is not customers fault.

But in such cases and also in cases where you block your card on your own, you will always receive a new card with a new credit card number,along with new cvv and new card expiry date. But in this case they only changed the cvv, so might be some other issue, better to call the bank and get clarification.

I called CC. They are most dump people it seems. They kept on saying to use new card and didn’t provide any clarification.

Never expect any reliable info from customer care people nowadays.Always write email & if the reply is ambiguous then it just means that the info requested is only with top mgmt & not allowed to be shared with public.

my card was going to expire in few months so I called them to send me new card and received it however after few days received another card with same number different cvv..and got a call also from them regarding receipt of card

Agree. In such cases always go via the email route. This way you have a written proof that you had informed them about the issue in writing. This helps if something goes wrong in the future with the card coz verbal communication they will simply deny.

if cvv is same, don’t bother with it. no action needed.
if cvv of new card is different, contact SBI card cc . don’t start using new card unless confirmed by cc.you can continue to use old card.

another possibility is add-on card, since some banks issue add on card with same card number.
