Why people are after limit? If You need higher spend then the allowed limit , simply first add the diff amount on card credit balance and enjoy

Secured dint raise your cibil

Secured or unsecured doesn’t matter except for getting card-on-card basis offer & even there many banks don’t differentiate between them except limit(some banks just consider 30k or above limit irrespective of whether card is secured or not). Using a secured card in an efficient manner does increase cibil score.

Follow up question: Does the secured card become unsecured if the lien on the FD is removed ? I have heard some folks saying that even though they had a secured FD based CC, after some months with good usage pattern, the lien was removed (mostly by Axis, please tell which banks do so), so what exactly is the status of the card after that ?
TIA

How are you so sure SBI do not report secured card transactions to CIBIL. I have been using SBI secured credit card for like six months. Recently SBI has reported my payments to CIBIL. Banks do no report to credit score agencies every month unless your lender want to ruin your credit score profile if payments are defaulted.

Yes banks like Axis & KOTAK do though I am not 💯% sure. But do not expect Lien removal from SBI, ICICI as they do not remove lien no matter what, even every payments are done timely or in advance. You have to surrendered the card only Lien will be removed.

SBI report to CIBIL every three months. Are checking CIBIL from SBI card app?Check with other credit score sites like WishFin, Paytm, PaisaBazaar.

Yes because in cibil report it is mentioned if there is any collateral against a card & if bank mentions it then it is secured card else unsecured. However if axis reports to cibil the fd amount as collateral even without lien(fd is not like savings acc where you can immediately withdraw/transfer the money, even if lien is not there it may still take 1-3 working days for fd withdrawal to process) then it is still considered secured card. Only axis bank does this as far as I know(removing lien for a fd based card after few months/year) but after corona everything has changed so not sure if they still do it.

Secured card always build up cibil , infact its the oldest trick to get high score or those who have defaulted in past

Yes from app.

Paytm doesn’t show cibil it reports some other CB score

Rest of the site spams like hell so even if they pay me I wont register on those sites

Thanks, one more info: Once lien is removed, is the validity of the secured CC still same or does it gets renewed like a normal CC ? Meaning to say since the lien is removed, and let’s say we close the FD after a while, does the card expire or does it keep on renewing like an unsecured CC till lifetime ?

I didnt even knew that my lien was removed

I just broke my FD after 10 months and saw they didn’t cancel my card

I still have the card with me after 3 years , expiry will be on 2022 , so let me see what they do after that . Card still shows as secured

Its still LTF
