Usually you don’t need to turn off router.
If you really need it then any type of smart plug will work.
But there is a problem with what you want to do…how will smart plug will switch on router after wifi is swithed off in night

Have any of you used the sockets (smart plugs / timer sockets) which can be used to turn off wifi router automatically at night and then turn on in the morning — both at fixed times everyday?
Which brands are good at these?
P.S. I need one for the JIO router

That’s a gimmick, it actually hides the signal and nothing else. Read it on some blog on the internet

If it says wireless signal off than it switches off wireless but router is still on.

Yes, that’s correct in a way, but the requirement is complete power saving
Set alarms in your phone
Go to router physically and switch off from your hands
Switch on in the morning again
I know it will be very energy consuming and effortful but it will save some electricity
Smart plug turns off the WiFi router.

The schedule still work but smart features like alexa won’t obviously. you can’t control until internet is back on but scheduled switch on will work.

I switch off wifi radio mainly for health reasons. Wifi signals are known to interfere with sleep.
panchabhut wrote:If you have TPlink, log in to router,
Advanced>Wireless>Wireless schedule> Wireless off time>Add (indicate time for which it will be off and repeat mode)
What is ur model, seems its model specific, i can’t see this option in my tplink.

Don’t use mobile /computer at night. You will sleep better and wake up healthier

I had this thought when I first got my dual-band router, and then I realized, we can power off our router, but how about other crazy routers around our house?
In my case my bed room is close to other’s hall way.

The way that Kasa smart plugs work is that when you set-up schedules to turn the smart plug on/off at set times, these schedules are actually stored on the device itself. This means that it’ll still come back on even when the WiFi router is off.

Buy another router
Connect smart plug to that router
Schedule the smart plug to turn off/on at specified times
Done.
Do vice versa for the secondary router but at different times.

And what is the purpose of this? To use smart plugs or to turn off the router to minimize power savings or radiation or what-so-ever.
my airtel nokia router can do this with scheduling.

Most smart plug / lights keeps the schedules locally if you set them using their native app, unless you use alexa or similar to do this, turning on will work fine without internet.
