My ‘mamaji’ is a senior citizen of 65 years
3-4 years ago he bought SBI general Insurance for the entire family but couldn’t renew it due to financial pressure
**last year, he bought a mediclaim policy of New India Assurance Co ltd especially for Punjab National Bank customers
This year the policy suddenly got discontinued due to the non-existence of tie up between the two companies(No tie up no policy, No Insurance)
After investing 15000 approx in premium for 7 Lakh cover, now mamaji is suddenly at a loss
He is aged and cannot even take SBI Insurance. Also the premium gone it is a financial burden( he worked as a clerk/accountant in a Pvt Company for 25-30 years)
Question:
1) What are mamji’s option? He trusts SBI and other PSUs and values low and moderate premium
2) Can he complain to IRDAI and get a refund or second year migration benefits of similar policy?
3) As he is not covered under PM Arogya Yojana should he wait of sanjeevani policy? he doesn’t want to risk his money again by trusting PNB’s tie up or New India Assuance’s tie ups, what advice can I give him or help him lead a worry free life.
Advice Eagerly awaited

Contact bank and try to get the number of agent of insurance company. They will surely have it or ask them for help patiently.
Then contact him , and probability of continuation might be there ,of course premium will be higher as tie up with bank is over.

As far as I know, his policy was about to expire in March, 2020
Mama ji went to meet the manager about renewal even braving lockdown!!!
The manger gave him a verbal assurance that the renewal date will be extended and never mentioned anything like non-continuance of tie up
They did not notify ‘mamaji’ before discontinuing and suddenly when the fellow visited New India Assurance office those people simply refused to talk
PNB manager advised to take other policy and said that nothing could be done!!
Land of Foxes this insurance business…..

PNB will have tied up with another insurer since they have broken up with one, take that policy. Once the tie-up ends insurers do not generally continue the policy. Or he can take one of the retail policies directly (not through bank), premium will most probably be higher.

Dear Sir,
We acknowledge your grievances to which we our sending our point by point reply as below:
1. I had sufficient balance in my punjab national bank account ********** and the renewal of premium was via auto renewal mechanism from my respective account.
OUR REPLY: We have not receive any premium either from you or from your bank.
2. My policy was dishonored on the basis on the non continuance of organisational tie up between New India assurance co ltd and punjab national bank. However, being a senior citizen I was not notified beforehand either through Post or electronic communications. I believe my second year renewal benefits should not be hampered or discontinued based on organisational internal matter or tie up.
OUR REPLY: Our system sends SMS & email notifications for renewal to your regd. Mobile no. and email ID, please kindly check it.
3. I personally visited the branches of both Punjab National Bank and New India Assurance during the month of March 2020 and had a formal discussion with branch Manager of New India Assurance. I was assured that a grace period would be given after expiry of policy date considering the Covid19 pandemic. During my visit, no communication was made about the discontinuation of tie up between PNB and New India Assurance.
Again, braving covid19 lockdown orders I went today to enquire about renewal of my policy, as my renewal amount was still in my bank balance. I expected it to be deducted as per the continuation of the Policy. To my horror and disappointment, I was told out of the blue that I am not allowed to continue with my current policy and have to start afresh.
Please keep in mind that inspite of being a senior citizen I invested an entire year to get the benefits of the Insurance based on the reputation of PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK alongwith NEW INDIA ASSURANCE CO LTD. Hence I demand the benefits of continuation since opening date of policy from the second year rather than again starting afresh with a new policy and losing a complete year.
OUR REPLY: Although our tie-up with PNB ended, if you want to continue your policy with New India, as per IRDA guidelines on migration of health insurance policies you may migrate your policy to other health insurance products available with us like Arogya Sanjeevani or New India Floater Mediclaim, etc (details available in our website https://www.newindia.co.in/p...l/) . Please let us know if you are interested. Alternatively, we have been informed by your bank i.e. PNB that they have arrangements for taking over of renewal of New India mediclaim policies for customers of the bank.

In case you need any further clarification/help, you may kindly contact me at my Mob. No

POINT is they are not accepting that no notification was sent
Plus, blaming mamaji & pnb for not deducting renewal.amount, which is absurd
