Should i take pre-approved SBI BPCL? .... for the purpose of increasing my total limit

I am currently using 6 months old SBI SimplyClick SBI CC which comes with meagre limit of 10k

I yesterday received notification for the pre-approved offer (non LTF). I don't really need it but need higher limit. Should I accept the offer just for the sake of in anticipation of getting better limit. I probably will close BPCL card after 3-4 months use.

AFAIK Bank will merge the limit of both cards and even if i close BPCL Card I still will be able to utilize limit that came with it. Hope I am correct.

No.. By the way, you have to reassign the limit from existing one for new BPCL Card. For example, your current limit is 10k for Simply click. When you will apply for this BPCL card, they will ask to assign the limit from 10k. If you assign 5k for bpcl card then 5k limit will remain for simply click.

since its existing limit is just 10K they may give separate limit like another 10K

if they ask to split then really LOL

I don't think getting BPCL is a good idea. I'd suggest you wait for a credit limit increase on SimplyClick and meanwhile, keep looking for a better card offer compared to BPCL. As far as I know, BPCL won't get you a very high limit. So, you can skip it imo.

they will split your existing click cc limit.

Limit will split. Not shared. Same offer for me. Its asking for me to lower my Simply Click limit to get limit on BPCL card. Waste.

Keep in mind, Keep your usage below 30%, but you can't spend more than 3k if you build your good score!

It Impacts in Short Term!

I'm getting pre-approved BPCL option too since December and they have been bombarding me daily with sms to get it...

Didn't apply, then they started offering me 250 amazon GV in first week of Jan, still didn't bother...

Now, they are offering 1000 GV (offer valid till Jan 31st.)... now plan to take it for the GV mainly and a RuPay CC if possible as I don't have one.

Asking for some views:

* I currently have no personal vehicle (even 2 wheeler) now, but a very less used family car owned by different person. So fuel purchase almost nil, and this card doesn't even have good rewards or redemption for anything other than fuel. So, just be almost useless?

* Take this and get 1000gv then before 1yr place closure request and negotiate for LTF else close it?

* Any way to get issued it as RuPay? Was hearing SBI doesn't allow changing card network later, true?

* So if my current Simplyclick limit is suppose 50k, I have to split it say, 10k BPCL+40k Simply? Is CL enhancement later specific for cards or collectively offered?

I am also getting these messages and in same situation as yours. My minimum threshold for taking card just for welcome benefits is 3000. So not taking this offer.

BTW, u can checkout cashkaro, it was offering 1500-2500 few days back on different axis, sbi and idfc cards. It won't be a pre-approved offer, but still if cibil is good and u r salaried, approval should be easy.

@Knight11 New application isn't an option for me (self-employed), got simplyclick during launch of sprint as new customer, don't want useless hard enquiries now, time's a bit bad for me these days...

If you think you can negotiate for ltf then you can take it. Not sure about this card being available on rupay network. Limit will be split most likely if it is pre-approved offer.

Take it, they will give u some default limit. Use it for year, then close if they don't make ltf.

@PowerStar do they really give so high value gv for a basic card like BPCL? Anyone got more than 1k welcome gv yet?

@DimeDime Thanks for the extensive and thoughtful analysis...

However, this is not clear to me: "SBI BPCL: 50k spend to waive off the AMC. Just spend 2k to get a foothold in SBICards' world." - explain the 2k ?

Others too gave many valueable points and views, will read again and would most probably wait and see what SBI cards offer me next if I pass on this offer for now... more comments welcome.

50k - (12 months x 4k_paytm_wallet_load) = 2k
