Since Citi bank is soon going out, what's your next move?

If you're a Citi bank account holder, it should not be a news for you that Citi is selling their retail business in India. This is likely to be Axis, being the highest bidder, or Kotak with the second highest bid. See news article below.

‘Axis closing in on Citi India’s consumer unit’ - The Hindu

Just wanted to check what are you guys doing with your account? Are planning to keep it? or are getting it closed? I just got mine closed because I have had really bad experience with Axis (see below). I loved Citi for its excellent customer support & chat feature. Infact, I closed my account within 5 minutes using their chat!

Coming onto my experience with Axis, they deducted Rs. 5000 from my priority account (with 2L balance) for non-maintenance of balance in my other axis account which I did not use and was infact opened to help one of the sales guy meet his targets. I met with Ops head, said they can only refund 1k. I transferred all my money out, and will not even bother getting the accounts closed now, because screw them! So when I heard Axis is the likely purchaser of Citi's assets, it was a no brainer for me to close it.

I already had one Application no for Millenia CC when I applied in September 2021 online via link with no HDFC CC support (LTF+ Amazon Voucher), as Non_HDFC customer. It says I can’t apply now since I applied for an application recently.

Can that Application be canceled? I hv the Ref No for that in their system

Send email to hdfc support regarding this but as already mentioned by others, expect at least 3-6 months time before getting pre-approved card offer. If you have other credit cards then pay their bills via hdfc billpay & platinum debit card(non-rupay variant) for 1% cb up to 750 per month.

You should write to above emails mentioning your HDFC account no. and application no. LTF should be as per t&c applicable when you applied

If old application is revived/resumed then it will be ltf or not based on conditions at that time when you applied. If they decide to cancel the old application & file fresh application in the system then current T&C for ltf will apply.

So if I ask them to file fresh application for HDFC CC, would it be unconditional LTF?

Depends on their system, if there was an offer for unconditional ltf at the time of old application then better to revive old application else try your luck with fresh application.

So that means @bohemian , if I surpass 75k bill payment this month, the points will not be gone right?

It will not happen that only 75k bill would get me points & nothing over that?

Its maximum capping. you will get max  750 per month even if you make 100000.

What about the rest of the points if I don’t redeem them in the same month post 750? will the points get carried over to next month? @bohemian

Actually just want to pay complete 1 lac bill in same month without points getting lapsed?

You can pay any amt of bill in a month but you will not get more than 750 points in a month. These points have 1 year validity. If you want to get points on entire 1 lakh amt then you will have to pay 75k in one month & 25k in next month to get 1000 points.

@guest_999
So you mean to say I can redeem only 750 worth of points in a month but if I pay complete 1lac bill those points will get wasted?

They will not even be credited in one go? Little confused on this one…

I thought rest points can be redeemed next month (say remaining 250 points)? Is that understanding correct?

What’s the confusion? Think of these as reward points with 1 year validity. You pay 70000 bill in Jan you get 700 points, you paid 1 lakh bill in feb you get 750 points(max limit reached for the month), you paid zero bill in mar & apr & then in may you paid 5k bill & got 50 points & have total 750+700+50=1500 points(redemption have to be in multiple of 250) which you redeem for 1500 credit in hdfc bank acc linked to the debit card.

@guest_999
In the above example, what will happen to those 250 points in Feb, can they be carried over to March?
I guess we would have 750 points redemption restriction but carry forward of 250 points can happen since bill of full 1 Lakh was paid.

HDFC would hv restriction on redemption right (750 max) & not accumulation? please clarify this

Bro I already mentioned points have 1 year validity so what’s the confusion. 250 points earned in feb 2022 are valid till feb 2023 irrespective of what you do in between. You will get 750 points only for 1 lakh bill payment in a month with 1 year validity. In even simpler terms, there is no point in paying anything more than 75k in a month via hdfc bill payments for cc bills. If you have 1 lakh bills to pay in a month then pay the rest 25k via cred/paytm etc.

So one should get 1000 points when they pay 1 lakh bill in 1 month, only that we can redeem 750 points max right for that month?

Rest 250 points should be available to redeem in next month? Is this understanding correct?

ohh so then I won’t get any benefit of that 25k bill sad

Also when does the HDFC billpay cycle for that month start & end?

HDFC billpay cycle is same as calendar month, you pay 75k bill on last day of the month & then pay 75k on first day of the next month & you should get 750+750 points but I suggest to pay at least 2-3 days apart in situation like this(last day of month & then 3rd or 4th day of the next month).

Also since bill due date falls at 5th of a month for Axis card, if I do remaining payment of 25k on 1st of that month, will it get credited by 5th from HDFC ? @guest_999

Very close & risky, always take a margin of at least 5 days while making payments to axis/icici/amex via hdfc billpay.

Hey @guest_999; @bohemian

Just wanted to ask if I pay remaining Axis CC bill in morning of 1st June (say around 1 am or earlier), will it be credited by 5th June EOD? Also will get 1% cb as well added in month of June?

Actually, I did it once & it got credited in 5 days (Start date: 1st May, SMS received from Axis-6th May 12 AM saying that payment was received on 5th May), also in Axis Mobile app it still showed me the date of Billpay Transaction i.e. 1st May on which I initiated BillPay.

I want to use the HDFC Billpay limit , can’t use it this month so asking? 😒
