Hi,
I have recently made a purchase on Amazon through Smartbuy for 5% cashback using HDFC Credit card. But I have initiated a return of the order on Amazon while selecting the refund source as Amazon pay balance. So, my question is, whether 5% cashback from Smartbuy will still be credited or Smartbuy/HDFC would know that the specific Amazon order has been refunded via Amazon pay balance rather than via reversing the credit card transaction? Anyone has any idea on how this works?

HDFC acts very strangely, nobody can confirm this. I have got smartbuy rewards for cancelled txn, cancellation refund was in next statement. But haven’t see any negative deduction from my reward points, even though I had expected it.

HDFC is basically providing cashback as it is a part of Amazon’s affiliate tracking program, so Amazon can inform HDFC about cancelled orders and HDFC can reverse the cashback provided.

Small update:
Since I used HDFC Millennia credit card which has card benefit of 5% cashback on Amazon, i have received this 5% as reward points. Have to see if this will get reversed in future or not
