Smartwatch with basic but reliable features

I am looking for a smartwatch (or band?) to keep a tab on my activity parameters, primarily step count. Things like sleep and heart rate monitoring aren't strictly necessary but if it comes along I am fine.

I see that decent ones like Samsung's cost upward of ₹5000 - while I can afford one, I am concerned about the durability factor. Don't want to replace one every 2-3 years like phones! My current analogue wristwatch is over 10 years old! Is it too much to expect from smartwatches?!

@gischethans -- There are couple of things to consider.

  1. Are you looking for a smart Watch which can double up as fitness & health tracker?
  2. Are you looking for a fitness & health tracker which can double up as smart watch?

If 1st one is what you are looking for then go for a smart watch. If 2nd one is what you need then go for a smart band.

If you really need to track health and fitness 24/7, I would highly recommend you to buy a smart band. Fitbit and Garmin are the brands which are durable and suitable for 24/7 usage.

Note: I have fitbit charge 5. Using it since ~3 years.

Your comment makes things clearer to me. I just need a fitness and health tracker. From a quick search, they appear to be even more expensive. Is it because of reliable sensors?
