Stick with Jio or move out?

I just realized that every month I’m recharging for Jio 149, therefore 1800 per year but I’m not utilising more than 95% of what offered. Like in whole a month, total outgoing call duration for me remains at 3 to 4 hours tops. And out of 24 GB offered data per month, I use maybe 1 GB (much less in reality).

So should I stick with Jio still or try to find cheaper alternative? I would have ported to something like Voda right now but their outgoing call rates are hilarious. Like if you call someone for even 5 mins 10 rupees is deducted! Lmao.

Please advise.

149 is 24 day plan
U can use 129 plan if data not needed

RC with 329 plan for 84 days (comes with 6GB/3months).
Recharge data plan of 11 or some thing, if you need more data.

I prefer 329 pack i.e 109/month as to get limited data and free calls… There’s a disadvantage though that you might not be able to recharge it on other platforms and utilize monthly offers…

I preferred 329 (410) plans for my parents till date but now I’ll not get 47 gb instead I’ve to make peace with 6 gb for 329, so now I’m afraid it’s very less effective compare to 2020

Is BSNL not an option there ? Its validity recharge provides 2 or 3GB data as well as 100 minutes call to any network. Seeing your usage it should be good enough.

Or if you have to stick with Jio use 329 plan as suggested above.

with 149 plan your yearly expenses are 2266
with 1299 plan 24GB yearly data ( get rs 50/100 CB by doing RC from payzaap )
you can save 42% on existing RC as 1299 have a validity of 336
other operators rs 1499 RC with 365 validity and 24 GB yearly data
BTW with jio there no charges for calling to 1860/1800 series number and no charges for shortcode SMS
you can watch jio TV via wifi but airtel/vi/bsnl allow tv on mobile data only

Don’t have much idea about BSNL bro, only thing I heard that BSNL is lost case because of our govt shaking hands with Jio…
Will it be beneficial if I decide to switch?

Depends on network coverage in your area. I’ll say stick to jio if you want to try your luck with Big city experience…

This is exactly the problem. There’s not a single platform which supports any of the affordable packs of Jio (129, 329 etc.), they used to though, but discontinued some time last year.

I could go BSNL (all networks are available here by the way) but they always had that problem with SMS delay time. For OTPs it may pose a major problem. While we are talking about BSNL, what’s their standard call charges? Is it same like 2.5 paisa per sec. as on Vi?

what cheaper alternatives¡¿
do operators still provide ANY worthwhile ‘per second’ base tariff plans?
for incoming, shouldn’t the (99INR) 🐩loyalty🐕 program (prime membership) be enough to keep the number active for a year (maybe even the second year, should i believe the regional area manager).

incidentally, delayed messages (in my case) has been an issue with Maro’s own info-alerts and surprisingly (in the handset that we have) Maro is not sabotaging the BSNL sim and OTPs (AmmaJohn, FlippedCart, one of your fav banks BOB, Income Tax Dept./ site) ARE received timely.
perhaps these things are congestion, location and/or handset specific too¡!

PV136 [Freedom Plan] is NOT there anymore. https://duck.com/?q=Freedom+plan+PV136+BSNL&t=h_&ia=web
It was devolved to lower benefits and gradually withdrawn from all circles by end of December, 2019 http://chennai.bsnl.co.in/latestnews/2019/OCT/Withdrawal%20of%20Voice%20STV%2077%20and%20STV%20111%20and%20Withdrawal%20of%20Freedom%20Plan%20136%20wef%2021_2019_10_19_15_18_09.pdf

though you may check whether PV365 has per second billing.

TBH, I thought it’s some kind of a bot, coz it literally happens everyday, and the way the texts are aligned and the grammar, it appears to be a bot only OR maybe the kid is damn persistent to mock the mods laughing

BSNL will make you suffer so use it only as secondary number. Bsnl 3g is easily blocked by barriers such as inside buildings, metros, malls, behind hills or unusual landscape whereas jio, airtel, Vi signals are always consistent.
Bsnl does not give missed call alerts so you’ll end up missing important calls.

BSNL does alert for calls you missed!
It’s free, but you need to activate this.

I don’t keep any secondary number or anything of the sorts. I use one number only, always have always will. Now what you say there scares me. I thought as they provide 3G at least the service would be stable.

Jio is far from being consistent anyway. So many days in the premise of Calcutta High Court i tried to send 10-20 mb documents to lawyers and it took more than 10 mins. And it was under open sky. So I don’t believe any network is there which is actually stable.

Any BSNL user here who can throw some light in the matter of their 3G connectivity? It would be helpful.

I checked BSNL plans last night, it seems to be perfect for me. Everything is there, from rate cutters, to unlimited plans should I even require it and so on.
