Respected dimers! How do you book Irctc tatkal train tickets successfully? Even after following all the tips and tricks by fellow dimers I'm only getting TQWL. I have a good internet connection, logged in before 5 to 10 minutes, using Paytm UPI for faster payment, already added passenger list but the problem is IRCTC takes 40 secs to 1 minute to process every step. There was a "Please wait" or "Unable to process" dialogue at each step. So kindly help me with your hacks or tips on how to successfully book a ticket. If you guys know any agent who can book confirmed tatkal tickets help me with his contact details which would be really helpful. Thanks for your answers in advance!

It's rush time going on.. hard luck to get it easily. Keep trying with good infrastructure till succeed. There are some free tools available on the internet for doing the automation (prefetching forms data including cards), but use them carefully and from reliable sources only.

Preparation:
1. Add Passenger details in Masterlist before booking
2. If more trains available for that route, choose the best option to book (we can give only one shot in that time)
3. Try Premium Tatkal instead of Normal Tatkal (For sleeper)
Booking:
1. Login to IRCTC App/website at 9:55/10:55.
2. Search for Train details and wait sometime and go to train screen at 9.58/10.58.
3. Exactly at 10:00:05/11:00:05, click the seat availability (Each screen will take its own time, dont come out, be there).
4. Each screen will take atleast 1 min.
5. When u get 'unable to process request' error, try again in same screen, it will go thru in 1 or 2 attempts.
6. In the passenger details screen, nowadays Passenger details is not fetching automaticaly, So in 1st try if it not fetched try to enter manually.
7. Dont forget to choose the option 'Book ticket only is Confirm berth is booked'.
8. Advantage of Prem Tatkal booking, For the 1st 5 mins the Ticket amount will be of Normal Tatkal rate (after every 10% of ticket booked in Prem tatkal, 20% increase will be there in that ticket fare)
Since in tatkal time server is overloaded, system will take atleast 5 mins to move to next slab. So once u get the amount locked in the next screen, u have high chance of booking Prem tatkal tickets in normal tatkal fare.
Even if u forget to choose 'Book ticket only is Confirm berth is booked',once the tickets are full before u get confirmed ticket, ur tickets will not go to WL, since Prem tatkal quota dont have WL.
9. Try paytm UPI and preferably PayTM/HDFC accounts linked with it.
Even if u dont have tickets to book in the upcoming days, try to practice and go till the Ticket amount screen or till UPI screen to feel the process and accustom to the practice.
In some routes like Chennai - Howrah, definitely we will not get tickets. Like this type of routes better option is to get from Agent.

One thing for sure.... Irctc servers.... And tatkal..... Inversely proportional wala kissa hai aajkal....

On 1st June I was booking mangla lakshadweep It took almost 8 minutes for me to get logged in to the irctc app.... till the time waiting 4 was there..... So decided better to go with the sleeper I already booked for the safer side.....
I don't believe in Modi ji ka vision towards Indian railways when it comes to TATKAL quota.... Better to avoid....
In 3rd AC category...
Also the Indian Railways are the gimmick master scammer.... they firstly book tickets In confirm status , then give you birth in 3rd AC economy ..... when they have separate 3rd AC economy in every train..... When you enquire about the Indian rail they will guide you take refund of the chillar ( balance amount between 3rd AC and 3rd AC economy) which would be hardly 100 to 200 rs in most cases.....

not tried yet bro. Feel UPI was best and also no addl chgs in UPI.
I heared IRCTC wallet also facing issues at tatkal time. So out of fear not tried that yet.
EDIT: Also i tried Rupay CC UPI for some of Tatkal txns. only 2 went thru, and many times faced issue. So again fall back to PayTM upi with PayTM account.

Go to a cyber cafe and ask if he do tatkaal tickets, he has a lot of experience and mostly you get confirmed ticket.
He will take 50 rs extra or maybe 100

Today i tried in both App and website, as u said the website was totally useless because of captcha loading, it worked after 5 mins only.
But App went smooth today. IRCTC also introduced Fingerprint sensor authentication from last month, which skips the captcha at the time of login.
As suggested, login to IRCTC app at 10:57, go to Train screen at 10:58/10:59 and at 11:00:05 press Check availablity & Passenger details and proceed to next screens on time.
Better luck for upcoming bookings.
