About ink tank printers for home use.

.

It is a bit subjective.

Having personally used Epson Stylus Pro 1600 (many many many years back) and seen the prints from https://epson.com/Support/Printers/Professional-Imaging-Printers/Epson-Stylus-Pro-Series/Epson-Stylus-Pro-3800-UltraChrome-Edition/s/SPT_C635011UCM I feel that the micro piezo technology of theirs is/was fairly smudge, sweat/water resistant.

.

As for cost per print.

Ofcourse if one has children (school projects) or one's own professional needs (say: CAD/CAM work).. then ink tank printers too definitely make for a fair and VFM choice.

.

In photocopier shop or printout shop.. it obviously is neck and neck and sometimes cheaper (in cost pet print) than even Laserjets.

.

As for HP.

.

First you figure out whether you need just a standalone printer..

.. or there is a need for a multi-function device (MFD).

.

AND second... whether wired/ tethered is enough for your needs

Or you need one with Wi-Fi connectivity.

 .

I once bought an HP 1020 or HP1020 plus.

When those things were 6500-7000₹ (offline rate). The era much before Snapdeal,  Flipkart even started.

.

The damn thing is still in REGULAR USE at my parent's home.

Father uses it.

The device must have gone through quite a few resurrection.

.

Teflon tape/ whatever film part.. every 18-20 months.. if it gets scratched or anything .

.

Drum.. not that iften

.

Personally.. after seeing my father's cute little 'Brother' brand typewriter .. I always yearned to own a Brother typewriter.

I never could☹️.

.

But have had opportunity to use 'Brother' printer-copiers.

.

Between Brother and HP... in LaserJet... the only advantage in India which HP has/had (as per my analysis) is that HP has higher/better demand (aka resale value)..

.. and its aftermarket (third party) rrpair is literally available in the smallest of towns too.

.

Otherwise.. cheap standalone laserjet printer.. Canon too is value for money.

.

For Inktanks.. I might have a sentimental bias towards Epson.

But then, just like Samsung LG understood the white goods market in India, Epson REALLY understood the semi-professional/SOHO use and commercial use market of India.

.

They innovated the large additional ink tank concept to drive down costs.

.

HP.. in the colour laserjet segment.. is still getting real tough competition from the inkjet offerings from the likes of Epson and even Canon.

Ink tank printers only good if you're going to print daily otherwise the ink will clog the nozzles. For home use just buy a B&W laser printer from Brother
