Looking to buy a scooty - please suggest

Electric not a first preference, can only consider if see strong benefits that can cover the extra cost EV has

Usage would be local - daily run of 10-20 km .

- Which all brands can be considered ( please mention specific model that is recommended )

- What all features I should look into my buying decision (  will be helpful to classify must have features Vs. good to have features)

- Should I purchase online or via dealer ( share your experiences if purchased online )

- While purchasing via dealer what all accessories I should get along with the vehicle as free ( given mostly free )

- Any other thing to keep in mind.

Electric : high insurance cost + high battery cost replacement, range anxiety, low charging infrastructure

Petrol : less insurance cost + long range + low repair cost

Both have benefits and disadvantages so choose wisely.

Btw, I am also considering buying a new two wheeler and I will go for petrol preferably suzuki access or something similar.

6g is worst, scotty starts shaking once you go 50+, no space in dicky, except helmet you cant keep even a small book, single switch for dicky and fuel inlet which increases maintenance cost for sure in future.

Is this a common experience then definitely no to Activa

So far I shortlisted TVS Jupiter and suzuki access - any bad experience on these will help me to decide the final one...want to get peace of mind due to small but inconvenient maintenance or service issues...nor would have money bucket to buy again atleast for next 5 years...

Hello everyone,

Bumping this thread with a noob query. Never had a 2 wheeler in the family. Was wondering if the weight of the 2 wheeler will have an impact on the user experience. The concerned user would be a child weighing 45 kgs. Any other relevant suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for your inputs !

If it is a child I guess you need to go for non licensed one EV only

He would be turning 18 next year and it's for nearby area only, so wanted actual scooty for practice. We don't want to buy another car as we prefer waiting for electric vehicles to become cheap and increased infrastructure.

I was referring to electric EV which have max speed of 25km / hr and does not require DL but gives a feel of a scooty...if that suits

i had bought 2nd hand TVS jupiter for 78k which was just 3 months old. there were 3 company services remaining when I bought it and experience has been very good so far. the seller was an recent graduate and in sales. he wanted to buy electric vehicle as the petrol cost had shoot-up during covid. overall, i found the deal decent

Yes, honda activa...
It's great so far.. no noise at all while starting. I tried Jupiter as well but pickup was not good in jupiter and felt like old scooty and the weird noise jupiter makes when starting...

You might be talking about H-smart of 110cc or 125cc base variant..

I have suzuki burgman. I purchased in 2019. Not a single issue till date. It hasA same tried and tested engine of access. Plus looks stylish. Dicky space is also decent. Seat opening is integrated in the main key. Headlight is bright. Digital instrument cluster. 125 cc engine gives a descent acceleration.

Go  test ride for 2-3 short listed brands.

If usage is more than 25km per day. Get an electric two wheeler.

Preference in below order.

Ola s1 pro/S1

Tvs icube

Vida by Hero

Ather

If daily usage is less, buy an Activa, eyes closed. Preferably the keyless version.( 110 cc/ 125 cc)

I'm buying Activa today, why keyless one preferred? Any other things to consider?

The keyless version will be having car like security. And it looks cool and easy to use in day to day. Just keep key in your bag , and you are good to go.
All my cars have keyless systems and I found them very usable.
I can't deal with fiddling with keys on daily basis.

Insurance is mandatory for all vehicles. Accessories will be free (excluding helmet).
Are you buying 125cc or h smart?

Will buy h smart. They quoted 4.5k for accessories. Can I buy one year insurance. They said 1+4 insurance. I don't want third party only insurance.

They quoted 1.10L including insurance and accessories.

For first time insurance only 1+ 4 is available. Even if you buy insurance on your own. This is government rule. From 2nd year, you have to only buy own damage insurance as you already have third party insurance.

If you want to buy top model, buy access 125 or jupiter instead. They come with navigation as well.
Honda doesn't come with navigation.
Access 125 has the best engine in 125 cc segment

4.5k is too much for accessories. Here in delhi honda showroom owner quoted 1.5k for accessories. After some negotiations he agreed to give it free of cost..

Get rates from other showrooms nearest to your home. Even if they are far away, just call them and ask for price and accessories cost. Ask him to give his best price
