Also saw many replying that the tips some of us pay are not received by them. The delivery person don’t see if they got any tip and swiggy spokesperson is not clear on what incentives they give.
Also they’re forcing them to buy clothes from their side business and there’s another long list of exploitation. Lost the tweet link but it should be among those accounts if anyone’s interested.
I had already found swiggy charging more then what the restaurant charges + pockets packing charges, even on restaurants that doesn’t charge for packaging.. even on extra cutlery, etc.
But their chat team blamed the restaurant.
From this year onwards, I directly buy from restaurants.
And I believe we must support a decent, survivable, minimum wage for every labourer, including delivery personnels.
Amazon/flipkart also has exploitation allegations. It’s sad to see no govt goes against the thieving giabts/capitalists.

Exactly, I don’t even found a single reason why price are hiked by 20-50 % on swiggy/Zomato. Additional they add packaging charge (i believe packing charge is less than charges incurred in dine -in (which is not charged extra)). From last 3-4 months i have minimized online ordering from swiggy/Zomato, until and unless it’s a real deal to have

Prices are hiked to compensate for all those Rs.40 loot sweets/pizza/meal deals earlier given on almost weekly basis by these companies. It is basic rules of business, you must recover your losses even if it takes years or else be ready to shutdown.

I think rs.20 per packet is fair price.
Because they mostly charge rs. 29 as delivery charge which almost becomes nil after using discount voucher.

Swiggy and zomato both burning capital not earning money in reality.

This Job gives them Around 15-20k which is not at all bad, you cant expect Huge incomes from these jobs.
You should skill up with income received. These days everyone wants to earn Lacs doesn’t matter what skillset or jobs they do.

This job in full time paid the delivery guys 600-800 Indian ruppes currently. Not 15-20k 🙄
Have you even checked their accounts?
The one delivery guy I know from my village quitted it this January bcz of insane wage!
He’s earning more as an apprentice mason worker.

Looks like the earnings per delivery is based on the distance the delivery person travels ( to n fro ). There are 5 deliveries in just 40min ( First link ) so the restaurants & delivery points seem to be from the same region

At some point.. these guys used to earn a lot ( Something around 50k pm when these food stores were newbies ).. then the payout started getting reduced gradually and whatever they’re getting now is no where compared to what they used to ( some 2 years back ).

The concept of charging more for online orders should be gone. They can dump swiggy super subscription and add service+delivery charge per order ( like they do with swiggy instamart )

Now-a-days restaurants are heavily dependent on food order/delivery chains as many are still reluctant to visit restaurants and have food. They’re even willing to take a cut in their share because they got to maintain a healthy relationship with Zomato, Swiggy ( with Covid & mutants.. future is very uncertain )

I stay in a tier 3 town and most of the restaurants are located in the town area which is 6-7 kms from my place. Till last year Swiggy/Zomato use to charge around 45 rs for delivery and now delivery fees ranges between 71 to 80 Rs. I understand 7 kms may be on the higher side for delivery but there is no traffic in this town and it hardy takes 15 mins to cover 6-7 kms. On top of this menu prices are inflated to the tune of 30 % and some restaurant also add packaging charges separately for each item which alone comes to 30 to 40 rs. In other words, an order of 500 Rs comes closes to 700-750 rs if bought through the likes of Swiggy/Zomato. Yes i agree its very convenient to open the app and place the order and get the good delivered home but my question is, it is worth paying 30 to 40 percent extra for the convenience ? And btw, Most restaurants don’t show any kind of discounts. So there is no option to offset the extra cost using discounts. And this is not it, some restaurant also compromise on quantity for online orders.

I have stopped ordering from Swiggy/Zomato. Even if I use my petrol car to pickup the food from the town, it hardly costs me 70 RS or so in fuel. much better than paying 250 rs extra.

Exactly, rightly pointed out. Even i do same now a days. First they inflate price and further reduce the quantity for swiggy/Zomato order. Unfortunately, there is no customer right in food delivery space.

To me the whole business model of Online food delivery is flawed. They don’t add any value to the process either in terms of cost reduction or in increasing visibility of the restaurants, as they don’t deliver from remote restaurants. Mostly we order from neighborhood restaurants only which are known to us already. The restaurant’s business will never increase drastically just because of emergence of an online delivery service, as those who relish restaurant food already go for dine-in or pickup service. They will choose an online service only if they see any substantial discount. Who will bear the extra cost of the online delivery boys and Zomato support staff and software and payment gateway charges etc. They have developed a fake customer base by offering unrealistic discounts, which is not sustainable. Slowly when they return to a commercially viable business model, the customer will have to bear all additional costs of online ordering and delivery. This will drastically shrink their customer base, forcing them to increase the extra charges substantially once again. In the end, they will have customers only those who don’t want to move out but relish outside food and are willing to pay a high premium for that.

As the overall turnover of restaurants is not increasing, they cannot afford this additional burden, because no new customer base is getting created.

The model of Online taxi services was practical, as it added value by locating the vacant taxis to the needy customers who wouldn’t have been able to find them otherwise. This increased the overall turnover of the taxi business and made it possible for taxi owners/drivers to absorb the extra cost
