Hi!
I am planning to buy a tablet, and my requirements are:
1. Should be comfortable for reading books and annotate PDFs
2. Atleast 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage.
Budget upto 40k

Was thinking about buying an ipad initially but the pencil alone costs 8k, or 5-5.5k if I go with logitech crayon
Samsung S6 Lite is costing < 23k and comes with pen included in the box.

Need suggestions

Thanks

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 (6/128,UFS 3.0, no custom ROMs of note so far). Currently retails at 45k but a particular color variant was available for 40k in FK a few days ago.
Otherwise S5e (4/64,eMMC 5.1 unfortunately but good custom ROM support ) (30k for LTE version) is superior to S6 Lite but it doesn’t support stylus I think.
ipad 9th gen. is rumored to launch with 4/64 option . That too $30 less than the current MSRP. But it’s some months away.
ipads with their 4:3 aspect ratio are better suited for your purposes IMO. S6 and S5e with 16:10 offer the best balance between e-reading and (widescreen) video playback. S6 Lite at 15:9 is better suited for the latter.

S6 Lite will cost me less than 23k.
So which one should I opt for?

S6 Lite at 23k
S5e 34k
S6 40k
iPad Air 4 at 50k (Twice of S6 lite plus 5k extra to be spent for logitech crayon)

Thanks

The difference in screen real estate is pretty big. The humongous S21 Ultra is only 112 cm² whereas typical 10-11" tablets range from 321-359 cm², well over 3 times!

Not used an Apple device in eons but for e-reading or working with docs even the base ipad 8th gen. should suffice I guess. 3GB of RAM shouldn’t be a hindrance. But it’s limited to the 1st gen. Apple Pencil only. Plus fixed-layout docs like PDFs etc will fill the entire display. So no zooming in/out to read them unlike the widescreen Samsung tablets.
I like the S6 a lot though.
S6 Lite would also work and save a significant amount of dough. But OneUI and just 4GB RAM?

YSK Pencil support has been extended to regular iPad, It retails at ₹38K without discount/offer at Apple IN. I’ve always been an Android user but Apple reigns supreme in the tablet range (still rocking my iPad Air 2)

S-Pen tips are reported to wear out rather quickly and it seems they aren’t available for sale here. Only in the USA.

Not particularly relevant to your purposes but S6 Lite has now received an update that enables the DeX mode.

@LIMBO @bikidas2060 @getready @guest_999

I have narrowed down to following 3 options:
1. Galaxy s6 lite at 22700 with 2 year warranty 1 year samsung warranty & 3rd party ADP
2. Galaxy s6 lite at 23600 (with option to pay 2k extra and get samsung galaxy buds+)
3. Lenovo Ideapad Duet Chromebook at 25000 (https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/laptops/lenovo/stu...)

Please help me decide. Thanks

1,2,3 can do these things just fine
Should be comfortable for reading books and annotate PDFs

Duet is a different hardware
Works great with the Chrome browser (Desk version + addons).. Can handle 10+ tabs easily (Decent keyboard w/ useful shortcuts w.r.t ChromeOS & the stand is also good – Both magnetic*)
But the android apps, they run via container (ARC ++) for now.. and the experience isn’t great
There are too many issues.. some apps work in only a fixed mode (horizontal/vertical) and you will start noticing the system lag with just 4/5 of these android apps in the background
+ MTP mode isn’t working (Guess.. we need a USB-C Hub for file transfer or even to connect to external displays)
& DRM Level is L3 (Android Apps).. so no Netflix/primevideo in FHD but no such restrictions for Disney and Zee5

This is the case for now but Google recently announced Android 11 update (in a month?) to many Chromebook and Duet is one of them. One good thing about the update is that, Google is shifting from ARC ++ container to ARCVM (FULL VM) and it is expected to fix many issues with the Android Apps on duet

It supports USI Stylus and there’s only one available here in India and it costs 3.5k
https://store.hp.com/in-en/default/catalog/prod...
Duet is a chromebook that can be used as a tablet while S6 lite is a tablet that can be used like a chromebook (Duet will continue getting updates until 2028*)

S6 Lite is a better option if you are looking for a tablet experience
It also got the Dex Update (Laptop experience w/ BT Keyboard)
+ the pen is already included with the package

Go with option 1 or 2 depending on whether you need galaxy buds but is option 2 not getting 2 years warranty.

been using amazon fire tab hd 10" (got from us via a friend) for 3 years now. It has gotten a bit slow now but for the price of 110 usd (during sale, ~8k) it is a steal. Reading/watching videos is good enough when paired with good speakers/headsets. No screen protector/case used and still no issues with it. The 8" version is better I feel for regular reading as it more comfortable to use (and is even cheaper during sale). Only problem is getting it here.

Ipad will certainly give more premium feel and will last long time if properly taken care of. The iPad mini screen is crap though. you can check in store before you decide to buy if you willing to spend that much moolah.

Bought ipad 6th Gen 128 GB from US (through a dimer friend) two years ago at 20k for someone in my family, for same purpose. Bought an apple pencil from India at 7700 and the reading and annotating experience is good.
In India i feel it doesn’t make sense to put in 27k for a 32gb apple device. iPad Air 4 at 50k looks good but is beyond my budget.

Thank you all.
I finally bought S6 Lite after it came in stock few mins back. Paid 23750.
Went with option 2 (option 1 price had risen by 1k).
In the process found some juicy deals that are still live (ipad 8th gen 32gb at 25k, 128gb at 33500, ipad air 4 at 47k), but finally decided to go with s6 lite (since buying ipad would mean additional 6k expenses on logitech crayon.

Is it worth to go for crayon, to save just around 1k over appe pencil?
