Moreoever BB is doing great in online grocery delivery. I hope they target additional Tier 2 cities also and expand their presence. Will be interesting to see them vs Amazon Pantry/Fresh

I don’t find BigBasket to be profitable without offers except few items, mostly low value FMCG which is sold at MRP almost everywhere.

Hope they improve their pricing.

BB doesn’t seem to be playing well in tier 2 cities. I find most of the products overpriced by a good margin, compared to local market. People don’t generally have time crunch in these cities and hence mostly choose to buy from a cheaper alternative. I find vegetables and fruits prices to be specifically quite high, sometimes even double of market rate.

I feel Tata doesn’t have a clear strategy for e-commerce or retail in general.
They have Croma physical store, Croma website and Tata Cliq website which all compete against each other. Why?! Why should a companies business compete against each other in the same space for the same customer and be unable to provide any distinctive advantage?
Tata Cliq, Croma website all suck because of the lack of focus due to 2 different entities. Now, Tata Cliq could’ve been a worthy competitor to Amazon if they created virtual stores of Croma, Westside, Star Bazaar in their app and keep the inventory at these physical stores to avoid duplicating the costs. But each and every business is being run separately, with a different vision.
So, I feel Tatas are unclear in the e-commerce strategy which may run BB to the ground.

Big basket is more about customer service than offers.
10% ususal card offers are there with occasional higher discounts through gv/card/coupons

Don’t know about other users but in my city, amazon pantry items are mostly oos and priced above bb. Grofers stopped functioning in my city 2-3 years ago. Jiomart prices are less than bb, but product variety is nowhere near bb. Bb’s product catalogue is very huge. With options to purchase bb gv at 8% and bbstar cashback, most of my orders tally upto 20% discount. Jiomart gives 5% cb using mobikwik. So even if an item is selling at 90 on jiomart and 100 on bb ,i’ll purchase it at bb as i’m getting more discount compared to jiomart. Other advantages are we can choose the slots according to our convenience also the customer service is really good, if you have any quality issues they usually provide refund or replace the item.

Mark my words:
It is going to be a disaster for Tata. Most of the Indian companies will try to squeeze customers without any innovations to attract customers.
Look at the current Tata companies (including TCS India operations like govt web portals), all are below average with cheap products and services.

People buy from BB because of easy returns and refunds and good customer support.
I use BB and BBD both, both customer support is good and better than AZ cs.

Tata had plans for merging their star stores with big basket for better reach.

Now the hope is they dont go down the same same way as chroma.
