Looks good. Better to have Tatas than Alibaba
Moreoever BB is doing great in online grocery delivery. I hope they target additional Tier 2 cities also and expand their presence. Will be interesting to see them vs Amazon Pantry/Fresh

Bhai don’t know how it would affect the Bigbasket deals or services but I’m optimistic about it. Among the top well known Indian business groups Tata is one of the most respected and trusted one.

Let’s see what happens.

Both good and bad.

Good: Indians are owning the company and also expect better offers/promotions in coming months
Bad: expect more delays in solving customer issues. Tata group of companies are government offices in disguise. They keep delaying things and no one is ready to take initiative to solve customer issues.

I don’t find BigBasket to be profitable without offers except few items, mostly low value FMCG which is sold at MRP almost everywhere.

Hope they improve their pricing.

When I was in Bangalore/Pune I used to order fruits/veggies/buckets/tissues apart from items having offers like 1+1 or 30% off kind of stuff.

Agreed half or more items are at MRP but it was convenient when you are coming from office and there is no Dmart or More store nearbuy and groceries were limited to spending half of your sunday buying items and waiting in queues.

They may have to improve pricing to fight the bigger fish in the market. Fingers crossed

BB doesn’t seem to be playing well in tier 2 cities. I find most of the products overpriced by a good margin, compared to local market. People don’t generally have time crunch in these cities and hence mostly choose to buy from a cheaper alternative. I find vegetables and fruits prices to be specifically quite high, sometimes even double of market rate.

From the Nationalistic point of view, it’s good. “Owned and Operated By Indians” Tag will be attached now. But on Price-discounts front, we’ll get less offers and discounts, as free-flow of money by the owners to offer huge discounts will be restricted. Still, it’s just my assumption. Let’s see what happens next in reality. Fingers crossed.

Ps. I’ve never purchased anything from BB till now. wink

With competitors like Jio/Grofers/AZ/FK do they think that their sales will surpass all of them?
I’ve just used BB twice if i am not wrong and had pathetic experience so i uninstalled this app the very next moment.
This is ideally good for BB wherein a brand like TATA is backing up their firm but they really need to stand up on their own to survive.

I feel Tata doesn’t have a clear strategy for e-commerce or retail in general.
They have Croma physical store, Croma website and Tata Cliq website which all compete against each other. Why?! Why should a companies business compete against each other in the same space for the same customer and be unable to provide any distinctive advantage?
Tata Cliq, Croma website all suck because of the lack of focus due to 2 different entities. Now, Tata Cliq could’ve been a worthy competitor to Amazon if they created virtual stores of Croma, Westside, Star Bazaar in their app and keep the inventory at these physical stores to avoid duplicating the costs. But each and every business is being run separately, with a different vision.
So, I feel Tatas are unclear in the e-commerce strategy which may run BB to the ground.

Bro i guess experience differs from city to city 🌃 and also area to area. My experience has been fantastic with BB like @Maverick_23

Been one of the old loyal customers with maybe 💯 orders cumulative till date. used all their amazing frequent offers like 25% cashback on wallet load of 1000… plus heavily discounted items and coupon codes meaning one could get blended discount of 40-45% on 🛒 value 🤩
Now it is true discounting has reduced greatly but still good option considering their excellent fulfilment rates (an item is always shipped) and free / ultra cheap BBstar membership thanks to generous dimers like @Sigma999 🙂

Big basket is more about customer service than offers.

Everyone expects ROI. So, burning funds on offers and advertisements, in turn, brings revenue for foreign companies too. And if the discounts are high, then they’re trying to kill local competition, which in turn can create Monopoly. The latter tactics  are used by China, currently. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

Yes, that’s ought to happen, when online retail prices of stuffs are cheaper than the wholesale price. Local Shopkeepers are no fool. They’re one among us only… joy joy

I feel Tata group should work on consolidating Tata Cliq, Croma, etc. Lot of scattered business. Now bigbasket added.

Uber was a different case all together. It messed up because of top leadership crisis.

Don’t know about other users but in my city, amazon pantry items are mostly oos and priced above bb. Grofers stopped functioning in my city 2-3 years ago. Jiomart prices are less than bb, but product variety is nowhere near bb. Bb’s product catalogue is very huge. With options to purchase bb gv at 8% and bbstar cashback, most of my orders tally upto 20% discount. Jiomart gives 5% cb using mobikwik. So even if an item is selling at 90 on jiomart and 100 on bb ,i’ll purchase it at bb as i’m getting more discount compared to jiomart. Other advantages are we can choose the slots according to our convenience also the customer service is really good, if you have any quality issues they usually provide refund or replace the item.

Mark my words:
It is going to be a disaster for Tata. Most of the Indian companies will try to squeeze customers without any innovations to attract customers.
Look at the current Tata companies (including TCS India operations like govt web portals), all are below average with cheap products and services.

People buy from BB because of easy returns and refunds and good customer support.
I use BB and BBD both, both customer support is good and better than AZ cs.

Trick is to place orders just above 600(to avoid delivery charges). You would get 100cb for bbstar membership. Membership is available at 60 (visa offer). So effectively 80cb on 600(13%)+8%gv discount=~20%cb. BB themselves give provision of using 3 accounts for an address.

What is the visa offer ? Is it available every time ?
