This is good news smiley. Let's wait, may be from now onwards they will credit rewards with one month lag similar to what they do in case of other HDFC credit cards.

I dnt know why HDFC give rewards point and neu coins for UPI transactions under 2k.

HDFC and all other banks should stop giving rewards point/cashback on UPI transactions under Rs2000.

There seems to be some development activities in hdfc. Will have to wait for sometime until they fix it. Maybe they were implementing 500 capping

I only got around 59 coins for cumulative transactions done worth Rs. 5900 in July. But in Aug got nothing for all the upi transactions. This is not 500 capping, may be they have stopped giving rewards on upi transactions . neutral_face

The promotional budget and fund for UPI rupay from govt has to go as such to create interest among users, atleast for some more years...

Govt never gave any fund for CC on UPI and RuPay CC promotion neither govt gave any fund for normal UPI and RuPay DC promotion.

Fund has been allocated for MDR fee only for normal UPI and RuPay DC, that too for small merchants only.

If that becomes the case, people will only take Rupay cc which has zero fees or is ltf, and the premium Rupay category will suffer.

No one will take cards like these which have 300 or 500 or 1500 annual fees, but don't offer reward points on regular small usage between 100 to 500 or maybe 100 to 1k, the section where UPI shines the most.

The best thing these banks can do is make a tier or spend based reward system like idfc. It has its downsides but still ensures reward points for low usage customers and entice high spending users also.

MDR, etc. are the only Quantitative measures and apart from that govt. has other qualitative and indirect measures also which they use to persuade banks for issuing Rupay cards.

I am ready to go back to cash txns. My area shopkeepers probably will be more happy to get out of this cashless economy too. Most times, I bother them to bring out their UPI QR for simple 200 rs txn for fish/ eggs etc..

All happy.

In the long term, this upi service cannot be free. It will be paid by the buyers. In an economy like India, why would people pay a bunch of third parties for buying 200-300rs item. They will pay cash even if it means saying some coins.

Also, who wants to show all the sale in banks.

I use NEFT for Free.
IMPS for free.
I pay rarely by Cheque which is also free.

Maybe I try to create relationships with banks which gives me free access to their services. Now if UPI is mandatorily charged, who cares for it.

I know nothing can remain free forever, they have to start charging to maintain the system, but unless it remains free upto some limited usage (say 5 txns a month), UPI will see drastic fall in usage. ATM txns costs for most, however it's also free for most.
Also having all my minor expenses on my cc or maybe some throwaway bank account is actually more useful for me than carrying cash and having no idea where I spend them on.

And I thought India was more geared for a cashless economy.

Carrying cash and maintaining cash is more expensive and risky. Not sure how doing cash transactions is less expensive  if we don't belong to low income group or have loads of black money.
