my take on EVs:
I have calculated the running cost over 5 years for ICE and EVs. Whatever we are thinking that we are saving on fuel, has already been paid as an upfront cost. look at the cost of these EVs and compare them with the same model in ICE, it is more than 2 lacks difference and you should consider the Battery replacement cost after 5 years. Range anxiety is another big thing you have to deal with.
It will be economical only when you are really traveling around 80-100 KMs per day.
These EVs are at a very early stage in India. it takes a lot many years to adapt totally by then battery prices may also come down and companies will know real-life issues so when we buy after 5-10 years it will be finetuned for India.
Nexon EV can barely make it to 250km per charge by normal drivers and that has 33% extra battery compared to this.
Maintenance cost is very less for EV , people should take that into account too
Kudos to TATA for making EV affordable now
Tata motors share goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrr
