my take on EVs:

I have calculated the running cost over 5 years for ICE and EVs. Whatever we are thinking that we are saving on fuel, has already been paid as an upfront cost. look at the cost of these EVs and compare them with the same model in ICE, it is more than 2 lacks difference and you should consider the Battery replacement cost after 5 years. Range anxiety is another big thing you have to deal with.

It will be economical only when you are really traveling around 80-100 KMs per day.

These EVs are at a very early stage in India. it takes a lot many years to adapt totally by then battery prices may also come down and companies will know real-life issues so when we buy after 5-10 years it will be finetuned for India.

since I only calculated the running cost for 5 years, I did not specifically mention no.of years of battery. Anyway, even after 8 years, you have to consider that cost right?
Look at TATA's aftersale support, very pathetic. They won't replace the battery for normal wear and tear after 8 years.
i feel one of the reason of success of tesla is because of after sale service , and if tata will not provide such level  of  service  as such new tech may also have new issue .. then people will start leaving it

Battery has warranty of 8 years. Why are you replacing in 5 with your own money?

Nexon EV can barely make it to 250km per charge by normal drivers and that has 33% extra battery compared to this.

Aftersale support needs to be of the highest quality for the success of EVs. Tata is less than average at best.

Tomorrow Citreon is releasing their EV. Hopefully it will be competitive as well.

Because tata sells in budget segment mostly
and Tesla in Premium segment- they have already got the price to give good service

To improve after sales service tata will have increase the price of the cars and use that money to give best in class after sales service
