Tea price (smaller packs vs large packing)

I have been wondering for quite sometime regarding price difference between small packs of tea (50, 100 gms) vs larger packs (500, 1000 gms) and most of the time these small packs are cheaper to buy.
Some of the reasons I read online were

  • Quality difference
  • manufacturing is fast and easy for smaller packs which saves cost
  • Tax on small packs is less compared to large ones.

I personally didn’t find any quality difference in both. What do you think actual reason is?

Tata tea gold 100gm is available in my Instamart location at MRP Rs 40/- which is lesser than even the discounted price of all other bigger sized packs. Swiggy allows only three boxes to be added in one order. I keep buying a few every time.

You may eventually get More tea dusts in small packs if compared to 1kg boxes. That’s my observation …..

What difference does it make? Granules give better taste than dust?

I don’t think there’s any difference in quality.

I have been buying Tata tea premium 100gm packs for ₹30 or ₹28.5 each Hence ₹300 or ₹285 for 1Kg

While same premium 1kg pack sells for around ₹400 at-least.

I think small packets are made for lower economic section hence they are made cheaper in order to reach masses as there will be many local brands in competition selling cheaper than them.

Yes this also factor that comes to mind that these small packs are either meant for people with less monthly budget or maybe these are trial packs for consumer to attract them to buy more
