Things to remember before taking Airtel XStream Fiber

Here are the couple of things you need to know beforehand

  • Get referral code from your friends. Apply from their link. You get 300 and they get 300. But you visit Airtel Store and ask them to do the same then the referral bonus might not get credited to your account.
  • Don't pay them via cash. Always ask for link to pay. That's your proof.
  • While installation verify if that referral code has been applied or not.
  • As per your selection of plan you will get a kind of router accordingly. As far as I know GX, Zyxel, Dasan etc are the most popular brands used by Airtel.
  • Separate your 2.5GHz and 5GHz SSIDs. Your device won't automatically switch between the two. To conduct an experiment, go away from your router far far away. Then slowly come back to it. You will observe that 2.5GHz band light on the router is still flickering. So, you try to disable and reenable WIFI on your smartphone. You will observe that the 2.5GHz light will still be flickering on your router to your much chagrin. So, just separate the SSIDs and you can seamlessly transition from one band to the other with a simple click.
  • The provided router most probably has two antennae. Keep one antenna in perpendicular position wrt ground and other in parallel to the ground to ensure good coverage. Keep the router in a high position.
  • Don't bother spending 99/month to get an extender. You can buy a new router and use it as an extender using a CAT6 cable.
  • If you are coming from JIO Fiber then you must have observed how clunky Airtel app itself is. It is in your best interest to login to 192.168.1.1 or the IP address printed on the sticker placed on back of the router. You are better off using it.
  • A challenging part will be to monitor your internet usage. You will need a third party app. In My Jio app we could monitor the same without any fuss.
  • Try to get an Airtel Axis credit card to get flat 25% cashback.
  • You will mostly get a better experience in Internet connectivity and coverage in comparison to that with Jio Fiber.

I know I know, you people know it all. My palms were itching to type and it's Sunday so typed something. Happy Sunday guys.

@saradkamath35 i dont understand this policy with postpaid connections , if you fail to pay the bill your services will be disconnected but you will continue to be billed the monthly charges with additional late fine slapped on top of the amount
seems borderline illegal tbh
what is the reasoning behind this

I have Tata Play Fiber which is a bit pricier than Jio and Airtel. However, I have had no service complaints for a year. They gave a fine TP-LINK EC220-G5 router with 4 antennae which covers my 1500 sq ft home pretty well despite being lodged in the loft. Also, knowing how most of the Tata profits go into charity I don't mind the higher cost.

Between Airtel, Jio, Tata and local providers people should check with neighbours already using the services for a year for feedback.

How is Tata Play Fiber? How long have you been using it? Any complaints so far?

Using airtel Xstream Fiber from last 6 months. Service is superb absolutely zero downtime. They have provided me Nokia dual band router. Also connected my extra TPLink Archer C6 router as a Access point through cat 6 lan cable. Now my whole 2 floor house of 3000 square feet covered with 5Ghz band. Also I've given same wifi names for both the router so whenever I'm roaming in my house the network switching is seamless. Getting 300+ Mbps in every corner of my house. Also few months back got Airtel Axis credit for ₹250 discount.🔥

I used airtel for like 6 months and I did accidentally followed all your tips & tricks too (other than that 25& cb one, didn't knew it was a thing) smile

But I decided to get back to my old love "ACT"

Because airtel here is sh*t

Not the speed, not the ping. But the engineer's behavior + How quickly they fix the broken internet

Yes. Airtel depends upon local vendors. So, yes you are right

My local provider has multiple connection with gtpl, meghbela, railnet (forgetting one). Provides excellent service, shifted to gtpl last year. And cost like 350 for 40mbps unlimited (13months plan)

Used GTPL for 3 years. Service is great but my local cable operator service is pathetic. Zero support if any fiber cut or technical issues.
