Those Above 18 Eligible To Get Covid Vaccine From May 1

Vaccinations will be widened to everyone above 18 in the next stage beginning May 1, the government announced today after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of meetings today.
All adults will be vaccinated in “a liberalised and accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination”, the government said in a statement on a day India reported a new record high of 2.73 lakh cases in a day.

So far, the government had allowed vaccinations only for frontline workers and those above 45.

Means Paisa lagega, Means open market

Vaccination shall continue as before in Govt of India vaccination centres, provided free of cost to the eligible population as defined earlier i.e. Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers and all people above 45 years of age: Govt of India

My thought–
Just like cut-off in exams… how many can be selected/qualifying for so-&-so marks(age here in covid theory)
60+ – will be least
45+with comorbidities – more than those 60+
Etc. Etc.

True. But, where’s the vaccine?? And what strategy made it delayed for months?

So, what criteria made them sure to bring it lower to 45 and then to 18? Has the infection/ mortality rate gone down after getting vaccinated? Was vaccinating people with comorbidities brought any significant results for deciding the next set of populace?

Mine is a cooked-up theory.. cannot think why they not took 30-35 or 20s
and took minimum 18 directly..

Step is good, but where is so much vaccines? If Govt try to include Sputnik V then also supplies not coming at least till September & that also by way of import & still price not decided by Govt for Sputnik, all & all if we count only covishied & covaxin then 7 crore p/m & 50 lakh p/m capacity with full capacity & need 2-3 months to ramp up, & covishied production will stop in month if us not remove ban on key components.

Till now everyone was blaming center regarding vaccine shortage and open it for all…

So what center did was, they will take 50% of vaccine from manufacturers and keep their eligibility criteria across govt hospitals

50% can be sold to open market/States and states can vaccinate 18+ via Private hospitals/camps etc…plus state is open to procure vaccine from market(direct imports also allowed)…Price will be determined based on open market price…Dont be shock if huge black-marketing starts happening now with official price of around Rs1000 for each dose of vaccine

chalo ab center ko koi blame nahi kar saktha end of story.

Why can’t centre be blamed, people will say centre should have given for free….. Bla bla bla….. You can’t Stop people from criticising….. People have a habit to blame others for their problems/failures

“Under Phase 3 of Covid vaccination strategy, vaccine
manufacturers would supply 50 per cent of their monthly
Central Drugs Laboratory released doses to the
Government of India and would be free to supply the
remaining 50 per cent doses to state governments and in
the open market,” an official statement from the Centre
said.
“The Government of India, from its share, will allocate
vaccines to states/UTs based on criteria of the extent of
infection (number of active Covid cases) and performance
(speed of administration). Wastage of vaccine will also be
considered in this criteria and will affect the criteria
negatively,” the statement said.
The division of vaccine supply, ie, 50 per cent to the
Centre and 50 per cent to state government or private
buyers, is only mandatory for the vaccines manufactured
in India. The sale of all imported vaccines will be allowed
in the open market without restrictions, the Centre said.

The centre has given 100 per cent advance to two of India’s Covid vaccine manufacturers till July, senior sources in the Finance Ministry told NDTV on Monday night.
The advance – calculated as ₹ 3,000 crore for the Serum Institute (which produces Covishield) and ₹ 1,500 crore for Bharat Biotech (which produces Covaxin) will ensure the two manufacturers get the funding necessary to continue, and scale up, production of vaccines, the sources said.

Thank you very much for throwing some light on these *strategy front. The way I see it, 50% is there for centre and 50% is for state/ private brings the total value to 50% only. (But, people won’t see policy deficit/ politics here)

Furthermore, the adult population is ~70% of the total which is again adding chaos among distribution of vaccines to the person in need. Making everyone eligible (approx 1:1000) brings down the sharing ratio further between people with comorbidities and others. (No strategy for the same) relieved

Also, making it available so early in private (for less than 30%) and that too such a huge percentage of total production does not make sarkar ji responsible for the spike in death graph.. pray  @Sudarshan61

Yes, we people are only responsible for not wearing masks and not maintaining social distance!
