Anyone from Gujarat has any idea about the state subsidy for Tiago EV MR variant? Dealer told me Rs 1.5 lac subsidy is only available for LR (24.2 kWh) not for MR variant (19.2 kWh)

Not from Gujarat.
But relatives in Surat, interested in Tiago.

So checked with (Parth +919909920712 and Apoorv +918849596704 ) two dealership.

The price of Medium Range/MR base variant is already going a shade below 1,000,000 INR.
Hence the local government says that the price criterion is not met.
They do not want to subsidise something which is already less.

The subsidy for variants below 1,500,000 INR is there.

But the main thing for my relatives is that they need it sooner.
Whereas to create the exclusivity hype, Tatas are saying that (depending on colour variant), there is at-least 7-8 weeks wait.
The reason they say is that production just started of Tiago, within Gujarat.

The Long Range/LR model has an on-paper/ test conditions range of 315 kilometres.
The actual/practical range can be expected to be around 250 kilometres. (±10%?)

In effect, this is becoming like the popcorn sizes in malls/theatres.
The pricing of the mid-size popcorn is intentionally kept unattractive to push up the sales of the large size tub🍿.

LR Tiago EV, after subsidy, is going to cost less than the comparable MR Tiago EV model.

Didn't understand this logic of not subsidizing car less than 10 lac. Subsidy is not applicable if ex-factory price is more than 15 lac for car.

Take the long range version only..... Its giving 170-200 km in full charge under normal circumstances.... Dont know what the normal variant will give... Ev wont become any good before they start giving around 1000 km in real life.... Which will probably take 5-7 years.....

Currently I guess cng is the best option.... Middle option even after its high prices..... Ev will come with lot of hassles and anxiety issues....

Currently my dad's monthly run is 1200 km but not more than 100 km in a single day for few days in a month. Considering MR would exhaust the battery cycle quickly then LR, expecting to get it changed with 8 year of warranty. Also planning to keep the existing car as backup which is 12 year old petrol car currently.

U can max go one way 100 km..... Not every state has fast charger and. Normal charger will take hours to charge.... You have to think about every trip... Plan about every trip.... And If u think about going into deep areas... Villages... Forget about it....

In ICE vehicles..... This is not the case... Even in villages u can get people selling petrol and disel.... Obviously thats illegal... But thats how it works....

Yes. Still a long way to go for EVs to become the dominant mode of transportation.
