This would certainly matter to those living on top floors;-}

I am on the lookout for suggestions too.
Dimers, please help.

One suggestion I have got is to do metallic/white paint over the rooftop. But don’t know how that effective that would be. Please share if you have got any experience.

Edit: Mods please move it to the correct section

after every few hours, take 2-3 bucket of water and pour over it… https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif

or, get a water sprinkler used for watering gardens…let it be connected and turn on tap after few hours https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif ..

Get a shed made up or use Plastic/Cloth cover bedsheet or something and hang them with the help of Plastic/metal wires to cover up so that sunlight does not directly fall on rooftop . This will save your time and energy and will be eco friendly

good thread..I am also interested in finding a solution to this problem. My room is also on the upper floor and during the summers I have to shift to another room on the ground floor..keeping A.C on for 24 hours is not feasible..there has to be some other solution for this

You Can Use mangalore tiles with lime mortar If You Get In Your City

Tiling seems good idea (even better than painting) but have you got any experience with them, how much difference it makes in temperature. And what is the specialty of these mangalore tiles? By the way,I put up in Delhi.

ok roof gardening is only for those who hav interest in gardening……
also its nt like only for one season …u hav to maintain it…

Also one can keep abt 20 pots….that shall wrk…no need of spending too much on whole setup of garden…

Also theres some coating to reduce it gting hotter…dnt kno wat its called…its bit expensive bt reduce A/C running costs to abt 50%,,

Earlier i had 3 big eucalyptus trees on my backyard…it used to remain pretty cool…We had to cut them coz they were vry big…its 6-7 yrs back…Nw im having custard apple, Coconut, Banana in my garden…Nw they too hav grown big..so it remains cooler compared to bfore…

Bt for delhi ki garmi….Only coating will wrk…nthing else…
