I uninstalled the app, removed email access and blocked from whatsapp.

I have mostly stayed away from all these paylater features/apps and I think I did right after listening to so many horror stories last year when govt banned these apps. Most of the apps I have already uninstalled and consolidating the card usage to 1-2 cards most of the time. I dont run after new user offers (stopped 6-7 years back). I plan ahead my fixed expenses and make use of the best available offer at the time. I dont regret if there’s a better offer and dont overspend which I cannot pay. I don’t buy on EMI/no Cost EMI and abstain rather than getting excited at “never before price/discount” offers.

After UPI registration is complete SMS permission can be revoked and the app doesn’t seem to nag about it.

You will be amazed by the speed at which CRED reads all your SMS to gather the CC due details. Just give permission for a second and revoke it immediately. All the CC data in CRED gets updated.

Nothing comes for free, if cred is giving you points for just using its portal, they are earning from the data your share….

anyways good job u did

I only pay HDFC card payments via cred these days and others I pay directly via HDFC BillBay.. I get 1% cashback on Debit Card. Cred gives less than .2%. I can let go of this .2% also without sweat

Everyone company is their to earn
Why will CRED be left behind ?
Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple or be it any other mobile network company.

Sab k pass apna data hai , and they use it to customise their features, offers and action plan for future.

Choice is completely customer’s, use or delete.

Best question is can some get rid of Google or Apple ?

Yes. You can Google the guide as well. But you’ll have to adjust and sacrifice the comfort of many things .

newer android 10/11 has the option to automatically revoke permissions from apps if it’s not in use while you are in app. They can’t just lure in your data.

They read sms and got to know about my bank accounts. Even though I have upi disabled in 1 account, it’s showing me option to enable upi on that account. It’s scary as I think they are reading all financial details in the sms, transactions and all even though it’s not related to cred. For eg, I may have some loans, cards not on cred, etc. They will still be able to track and “customise” their apps and services.

I think they fetch ur upi banks from ur mobile number ( mob no is linked with bank) not from sms.

Desidime did not always host images on to its own repository… which I am pretty sure that.. you😇 are already aware of. 😊𝓗𝓪𝓹𝓹𝔂 𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓹𝔂 𝓬𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝓭𝓪𝔂🎊 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 (𝑶𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝟐𝟐).🎉

From ‘hotlinking’ images here, to the latter shift to the (Desidime) site hosting images permanently on its own site was both helpful and with its learning.

In the initial days, it was exasperating to find an otherwise detailed image, show up as a blurred or distorted ‘thumbnail like’ image after embedding it in a post or as the topic image/ masthead image of a thread.

Asking around wouldn’t really yield much help, nor the help/faq section ever existed (status quo continues).

It was by observation and by chance only.. that these things got clearer (again: I am inherently a dumb one and definitely not aware of modern website creation or database linkages of the same).

▪︎ cdn0 cdn1 cdn2… cdnN were all basically “mirrors” of sorts.. in so far as hosting the smileys or emojis goes (this I understood early… by tinkering with the URLs).
▪︎ next (in the URLs) was atrachment 》 photo and then a unique number or code.
▪︎ like in present case it is #719558. Which I now assume to be the UID of that set of image uploaded b⃨y⃨ a⃨ u⃨s⃨e⃨r⃨ h⃨e⃨r⃨e⃨.⃨ (Smileys hosted on Desidime never had any such numero UID naah https://cdn0.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_redface.gif)
▪︎ usually all thumbnails or standard sized and original sized “versions” of the same UID of user image.. reside/resided under that same code/folder (in present case# 719558).
▪︎ next is THE MAIN structure (issue😶) of how the system reparses the hot-linked image to its own repository.. for display.
■ this🙂 is where I (like many other outsiders/ non tech users) found out that by default.. ALL in-post images were saved in at-least three resolutions: small, medium, original.
▪︎ topic masthead images or peofile picture/ avataar imsges may even have a “large” resolution (often it could be smaller than rhe original resolution of the imsge the user had uploaded).

▪︎▪︎ lastly, the final part in the URL to check.. the file name itself.
Interesting thing I found was/is…
a single post/ comment could have multiple images added in it.. WITH THE EXACT SAME name.
But since the UID (image upload number) for each was different.. the data/ different files with same filename sat in different folders (as per the UID assigned to the user atrached images).
▪︎▪︎ for some strange (and annoying) reason.. Desidime system was/is in the nasty ‘habit’ of changing the URL/ embedded image size back to “medium”.. even when a user manually wished/edited comment to full resolution (original) https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/719558/original/8033033TR0F2Iv.jpeg
Maybe it was automated (based on events for a comment. Likes/quoting).. or some unseen hands intentionally edit/ edited it back to "medium’
▪︎ lastly, the final name of the file on Desidime AL W A Y S prefixed the name with the “post ID” / post number.
So in this case https://desidime.com/forums/site-questions-issues-or-suggestions/topics/hoe-to-insert-an-image-in-a-post?page=5#post_8033033 Desidime forum’s post UID# 𝟖𝟎𝟑𝟑𝟎𝟑𝟑 was prefixed to form the name 𝟠𝟘𝟛𝟛𝟘𝟛𝟛𝕋ℝ𝟘𝔽𝟚𝕀𝕧.𝕛𝕡𝕖𝕘
》》》so i casually checked if imgur dot com had any upload with 𝐓𝐑𝟎𝐅𝟐𝐈𝐯.𝐣𝐩𝐞𝐠 as the name. And got a match🙂. 《《《

𝔞𝔟𝔬𝔲𝔱 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅:

I think previously… page layout or display got messed up if the embedded media was way outside some set parameters or of overly large sizes.

Thusly, they (technical whizkidds🤗) might have deemed it prudent to primarily display only the “medium” resolution version of the reparsed “embedded” images.

To get a context,
any full resolution, large sized imag.. when similarly embedded in the older “messages” or the current “chats” module.. totally messes the screen up.

Ditto for embedded youtube videos.
In chats, if one does not use the legacy embed code with smaller height width parameters.
On portable devices, simply added the youtube video URL as a link in the ‘chats’ makes it go off the screen.

Each image is reparsed in at-least ‘small’ ‘medium’ and ‘original’ sizes, when getting saved in the permanent repository.
But by default, get uploaded/ embedded as “medium” resolution (except perhaps for mobile application users uploading it in-app).

Got call from cred and the guy sounded a bit worried. I have met personally a few of the cred employees a couple years back and they are mostly youngster techies in early 20s. He said they don’t store the information that they displayed and if I just disable sms permission, it would disable the payment options that I saw. I wasn’t convinced and he said he would ask his team to remove the feature. I bluntly said I did not feel comfortable with what they did and have uninstalled the app. I don’t plan on installing again and disconnected.

I use cred and it does not have access to my emails. Only sms access. Probably its gecause i havent activated cred protect. I know because icici sends my statement on email as per billing cycle and tge sms comes only 14 days later, 7 days prior to dye date and cred is clueless till the sms arrives joy
