Budget phones and cost cutting pensive
Its also possible that the service center is trying to save the screen replacement cost citing some fault with the MB? ( these replaced screens usually come with 3 months warranty*)

If it is software related, a hard reset should fix it
or even a firmware downgrade via service center

The touchscreen is unlikely to be affected by a software update. Budget Redmi devices have been plagued by the touchscreen dying out within a few years. Could be a similar issue.

paji last update was in december. it worked fine till yesterday. i doubt it is software issue. service center said that they can only reinstall current os. it was hard to make them understand what downgrade is, they said it will brick your phone.

is mainboard=motherboard?it says back glass but this phone has plastic back.

You can ask them to disassemble the display, clean the connecting pins and reassemble it.

Best option is to exchange this phone without wasting MB repair charges

Most of these guys don’t try downgrading but they do it (depending on how qualified the technician it is)
Yes, Mainboard = Motherboard and many parts like storage and ram are soldered so collectively they might be calling it Mainboard

Doubt that!
Downgrading regular updates is simple (There have access to rollback packages) but if any update includes bootloader/firmware changes then its complicated

this shows passed like the video but unfortunately still facing touch issues.

this cannot be a software issue as last update was in december. is there any other diy thing that we can do at home?

can a loose cable or anything like that cause this problem? @getready @LIMBO

No cables ever since the touchscreen was integrated onto the OLED display itself.

Received a call from the service center 2 minutes back after i complained to samsung, they said they will install software provided by samsung.it will format the phone.if the touch starts working then good otherwise screen needs to be replaced.software cost 1000+gst.they said customer is not allowed in their back office so i can either wait there for 4-5 hours or drop the phone there with them for the software thing.

Loot for them, 1000+ for just re-installing software
