Train Ticket Booking - Best Deal

Now that SBI Cashback CC doesn't give any cashback on booking train ticket, which is the best possible option now?

Also, redBus / redRail has one time offers or rare offers, so, looking at something robust.

One thing to notice, HDFC Smartbuy seems promising to me but I've one doubt. If HDFC Platinum DC and Payzapp Wallet, both will give 5% cashback, in such a case, can I load Payzapp wallet with IDFC First Wealth CC for 1.5% cashback on wallet load and then use Payzapp wallet for paying train ticket and get 5% cashback in Payzapp wallet? If yes, then, is there any catch in this, like, higher convenience fee for using Payzapp wallet instead of directly paying via HDFC Platinum DC at lesser convenience fee? On top of it, is there any convenience fee charged for loading Payzapp wallet via credit card? I just want to be sure of all the charges involved in order to avoid adding a huge amount in Payzapp wallet and be trapped.

Need help from people who occasionally book train tickets.

I can answer partially. Indeed I too need answers for all of your questions.

1. SBI CB - buy amazon gift voucher. add it to amazon wallet. use amazon app to book train. effectively you got 5% CB.

2. Smartbuy - last time when I used with bharat rupay hdfc cc (this is not issued anymore). I got 5% CB credited to the statement. Also the agent fee of 40rs was not levied in comparison to amazon way of booking.

Payzapp wallet should give 5% to as per terms and conditions, Loading with BoB Snapdeal card fetches 2.5% also there won't be any agent fee.

So 7.5% cashback if it worksout well.

@Scorpion bro can you confirm, if you had tried anytime?

Trainman is Bogus app. Someone mentioned there is conv. Fee. Don't know about it.

Use HDFC Smartbuy or amazon gv via SBI CB CC.

IRCTC adds charges for wallet payments too. Trainman doesn't add wallet charges and hence you can use AGVs.

Ultimately chose the no frills option, HDFC Smartbuy + HDFC Platinum DC

Didn't utilize SBI Cashback CC + Amazon GV since I already have Amazon Pay balance from the GVs received from office, so, will consume that up by paying term insurance premium. So, avoiding stacking up money in Amazon Pay balance for now.

I have tried BoB Snapdeal CC for many other wallet loads, all were giving RPs worth 2.5%, but not tried with Payzapp.

In PayZapp, Last month tried loading 500 with magnus, but for this txn no RPs has been credited. So again not tried to load payzapp with credit cards.

But payzapp attract more charges 1.8 % + 18 & gst i.e. anyhow more with 1% gst for hdfc cc & 0 % for dc .

How it is payzapp more beneficial for irctc or best value back ? is there any cashback capping there ?

I didn't know about this at the time of posting this.

Only when I went ahead, saw that Payzapp wallet is attracting 1% + 18% GST. So, in my case, went ahead with using HDFC Platinum DC, 5% cashback, that's it.

Also have HDFC Regalia CC but didn't want to accumulate RPs there, already have some 3.5k+ RPs and no idea how and where to utilize them efficiently.

You can utilise them to buy Amazon, Flipkart GVs at Re 0.35/RP at the Smartbuy website IIRC.
