Hi everyone,
I had opened my salary account with HDFC through x company.

I have left that company and soon I'll be joining a new company which also offers an HDFC salary account.

What is the procedure of transferring the salary account from the old company to the new company's salary account so that I can continue to enjoy the benefits of a salary account

During the onboarding process with new company give your HDFC salary account number. They will map it .

@saxena  - above is the right way to go about it. if they have HDFC bank reps during the induction, provide you account details to him/her. They will take care.

This account remains salary account as long as every month there is a credit of more or less same amount irrespective of the deposing company

I'm asking this because if I remember correctly, at least for HDFC, each company has a different code called "company code". The company which I worked for had some code x and product code was 113.

I remember this because I was very much interested in the millennia debit card but because of my company's code and product code, they were not willing to provide me the millennia debit card. They said that only platinum debit card is free with your salary account. I visited several different HDFC branches in my area and all said that for this product code and company code we can only provide the platinum debit card only for free otherwise millennia would be chargeable.

So, I thought I'll have to request for company code change to continue the benefits of salary account.

Have you been personally using the way you have suggested in HDFC?

Nothing needs to be done. Having 20 year old salary account in hdfc and have changed several companies. Just update bank details in new organisation

As several dimers indicated, nothing needs to be done. Your new company would have a portal to update your salary bank acc no, just put your existing account no. And if its a small company with no such portal, then just provide your existing bank details to HR.

And yes, salary accounts do have company code attached, but it is not at all necessary to change them. Now if only for any specific purpose you need to change the company code, then you need to send a document (obtained from your company) to HDFC. But rest assured, things would work just fine as long as you're receiving salary timely. Actually, for me, even without salary for 1.5+ year it just worked fine as I transferred 20k fixed every month from my other account.

Got it. Thank you and @ Tjs15. I'm joining a better company with almost 3x increment in my salary. So I was wondering if changing company code and all would help me to get a better LTF card from HDFC. Currently I have the basic moneyback which is just collecting dust in my wallet joy

@saxena,  you should be able to choose the company name/code somewhere in the profile section in HDFC net banking.

Yep. This is the only correct way, as instructed by corporate relationship manager. Or through mobile:

1. Open HDFC app( do not login)

2. Click more.

3. Salary account services

4. Update employer details

Anyone converted from saving to salary? Or they automatically convert after few month of salary credit

No, you'll have to visit your branch. Ask your corporate relationship manager to share the company code  with you. You share the company code with the branch employee and it'll be converted soon
