Disclaimer: By doing this change you are redirecting all your mobile internet network traffic via adgaurd dns server. Do this only on your burner phone or for limited time (Dont keep this always on, if some app used http and not https internally your data is exposed)

It will only redirect port 53 DNS query, not  internet traffic ⛔.

And keep in mind its DOH, so it's an encrypted dns so more secure than normal ISP DNS which is unsecured.

If you want to redirect whole internet traffic, you need VPN

Be aware, this setting is not clearly available on Android versions prior to Android 9. Might not be a bummer for phones,  but Android TVs may still not be on Android 9+.

Further,  once this setting is enabled, ALL network traffic goes through adguard (or whichever other chosen DNS provider) servers, which can be a privacy concern.

Unlike ISPs, companies like adguard and so on aren't obligated to maintain very high grade DNS servers, and you may notice quite frequently your internet speed hurting, as you wait for DNS resolution. This was a massive concern for adguard's DNS servers, which often became slow and laggy.

So enable it while being fully informed. It's easy to set it up and forget it, unfortunately even on relatives' devices who aren't informed at all, for the sake of convenience, and it's a setting that most people miss to look at when troubleshooting the slow internet connection on their specific device.

Absolutely. Interferes with browsing experience, can't set any exclusions, breaks some websites...the works.

Enabling this on family used devices, like common use TVs or elderly relatives' devices is a nightmare in development. They'll never know what was enabled by whom and won't be able to find it. Often the one who enables the setting is unavailable, or is himself/herself clueless about the ill effects. They'll all blame the ISP, ISP troubleshooters will almost never look at/for this setting, tinker with the router, open up speedtest, and demonstrate everything's OK, while the  family suffers a most irregular and frustrating experience with whatever device has this issue.

It's DoT for Android 9 and 10 (90%). DoH private DNS only for Android 11+, and that too, not for all DNS providers yet. Google, Cloudfare and maybe Quad9 are enabled. Adguard DNS DoH server query FQDN can't be saved. It's likely to be only DoT at the moment,  I think. Still, for the end user, DoT or DoH isn't a big deal

From yesterday onwards Jio internet is not working properly due to this adguard DNS settings. Is there any other free alternatives? Don't need adblock apps.
