trucaller app - How is it getting my mobile number mapping with name?

Yesterday, I happened to search my mobile number on truecaller.com by logging using gmail account.
Strangely, my name mapped with my mobile number. I have never installed the app on my phone.
As per the tnc of the trucaller app, they stopped fetching the phone contacts data from the app users since 2012.
If that is the case, how my mobile number is appearing in their database?

Note: There is option to delete the phone number from their data, which I did it.

He said it right. It’s the users who have installed this app on your behalf and saved your no. It’s like Google maps you enter one location but how is google coming to know if there is any congestion in the road in which you are traveling that’s because there are many people driving their car who have turned on their GPS. Hope this clarifies.

Go to trucaller.com , use ANY gmail or hotmail.
Left side menu, there is a privacy option and then delete your number.
Edit your profile & change your name by any random name.
After doing this everyone will see the random name only.
You mean to say,
1)Install trucaller in phone and register the number with some random name.
2)Keep the profile for ever (without deleting it)
3)The mobile number is tied to that random name.
But as some one mentioned here, how to avoid fetching the contacts from my mobile phone?
I tried to deny the access to my contacts. The app did not work.
Truecaller is a crowdsourcing app. The very existence of the app is based on fetching data from users.
The other downside/nuisance/prank is if someone with Truecaller saves your number with a bad name and Truecaller happens to fetch it, other people with Truecaller will see that name. Internet is full of such harassment stories.

Probably, it got fetched from someelse’s phone who had saved your number.
