Having Windows XP on one of my systems. As most of the sites are not supporting the current version of browsers, is there a way to upgrade the browsers without having to upgrade windows. I tried downloading UBUNTU. However, RUFUS was giving some issues.

Etcher requires Windows 7 at least.

Will downloading Zorin OS create a partition for me to choose from which OS I want OR will it override the Windows XP I am having on my system currently?

Please also let me know, if I download Zorin, I need to take a backup of my files?

Thanks.

Can someone throw some light on downloading windows 7 or 8 for my laptop C700. Should I download it from the links and then buy the serial number from eBay.co.uk?

Please advise.

For windows 8.1 & above use this site, this site fetches download links directly from microsoft servers using a bypass/loophole.

Win 7 is not recommended now that official support is ended for general public.

Simplest solution would be to change the user agent of a browser based on firefox or chromium.

What’s your CPU model? How much RAM you got in the system?

Changing user agent trick does not work for many sites.

Just a push in that direction, if he were to pursue it.

May do more harm than good in the long run. Many browsers latest security features are not available on XP & using browsers without those security features to do financial transactions/sensitive/personal work is asking for trouble.

Security? Don’t think that has been his priority. He has been running XP for all these years.
Hopefully SP3, right?!

That’s a Merom processor. Even though it has those minimum instruction sets for allowing you to try to install Windows 10 x64, it will definitely start buckling under any real-life usage load. Stick to x86 version.
Does your laptop’s BIOS/UEFI support booting off USB devices?

Ok.

I downloaded windows 8.1 yesterday and installed everything. Hoping that it will run for some time before I upgrade to a newer laptop.
