Urgent Help! Need to sell kids wear.

It's going to be bit long.

So, we started a Kids cloths business back in 2014, and we tried our best till 2020. But it failed terribly, we had a shop in the local market and honestly it never even generated enough revenue to pay rent. We paid everything ( Rent, purchasing the goods) from our pocket only, for 6 years.

Now, since 2020 those all are lying in our house. We tried to sell it to local businesses but  nobody is interested. There are around 8-10 k quantity of cloths lying in the house. Which is really taking a lot of space. When we calculated how much these 10k pieces costed us, it came out to be something around 5 lakh ( This is the amount we paid for buying it in wholesale, this is not the retail price).

We have already accepted the fact that we lost that 5 Lakh. Now, the only thing we want is to get rid of that from our house. Can anyone suggest, what should we do?

Are there any such business in delhi, which will buy?

Should we try more harder to sell it to local businesses? If Yes, then could anyone suggest any such locality or market where I could find potential buyers in delhi? We have till now tried in Gandhi Nagar, Shahdara.

Are there any online platforms where I can try to sell those? Olx , Are there sites like Olx? I want to sell in bulk only.

I don't think selling on Amazon or Flipkart is a viable option because I don't have a GST, and it will take time. Even if I sell something worth 1000 rupees for just 100 or 50 rupees, there is still a chance that people will return it, and I may end up paying from my own pocket, which I want to avoid. I have already wasted a lot of money on these clothes.

One thing to note is that I don't have anything crap. These clothes are pretty much standard; it's just that people generally tend to buy clothes online or go to malls and big markets to enjoy some time with their families. That's why this business did not succeed. Generally, people here don't want to purchase clothes in the local area. Whatever the reason, all I want now is to just get rid of these.

Kindly share all your suggestions, on what all I can do to get rid of these. Is there any way to donate these ( last option)? But I don't have money to pay for transportation, even if I want to donate these. If you know any such charities then let me know.

I am looking for someone, who will buy all of this at once and relieve me from this burden.

Kindly suggest which platforms. And , see I don't have any issue in selling every piece at just 20-30 rs ( Even though they cost 1000s in market).

For Selling on Amazon.

GST:

  • I don't have shop now.
  • I don't have gst number
  • How much it will cost to get gst.
  • What all documents required.

Amazon Fees:

  • I want just 20 rs from every piece. Don't confuse it with that I want 20 rs profit, I don't want it over and above the purchase price of that cloth. I just want 20rs per cloth.
  • So how much amazon will charge me. Delivery , Platform etc.
  • Will there be any option to make it non returnable. Even after making it non returnable, there are chances that customer will lodge complaints and then I will be forced to issue refund. Size may not fit to customer, and then as he knows that it's not returnable so he may do a false complaint. And I will be forced to issue refund.

  • Any idea or guess, how much price I will have to put on Amazon. I don't want customers to pay delivery, because it will reduces the chances of sale.

  • Can anyone give a rough idea, about how much I will have to put the listing price (70-80 100 or more then that). So that I could 20rs in the end. I would love to sell all over india.

Any other suggestions.

You don't need a shop to run business on amazon, you can do from home or from renting a warehouse as per your convenience.

I don't have full confirmation about gst no. Charges but i think you can get in less than 5-10k (pls confirm from some ca) @third.i.financial.advisors pls confirm

You should list 99rs. Price per product so even if you consider 10-20% contingency and you may be forced to issue refund and any other charges you may have to pay to pay including GST charges, amazon charges , etc. , You will get more than 20rs. Per pc.

Bro get people added in WhatsApp groups in different societies, and post pics, I know its time-consuming, but you can get a good 200 per piece if the quality is standard

You can sell on Amazon without GST as your buisness value is not even 20 lakh.

Are you sure? Because When I try to register, it asks me for the GST.

@Stone_man find someone from the same field offer him half payment know other half after the product gets sold and give all the stock to him to sell.

This is the best way for stock clearance.

sorry for your loss op. what noone is saying is that those clothes are 7-8 or more years old. even if stored perfectly there will be some negative things. do not get a gst number for this as revenue generation is not guaranteed and it will be a headache. sell offline to any shop that you can find.

Yes you are absolutely right. Even though many cloths are sealed packs. Still they have lost their shine. Also, honestly fashion is something that changes everyday. And the print on those cloths looks outdated. Selling on amazon is really looking impossible.

Put up a sale in your house like "Monsoon Sale or Clearance Sale, 50% off or buy 1 get 1 free" and do some social media marketing

OLX and other Online Market place are headache for selling big inventory.

Best is to go to local market meet some vendors who are selling cloths like in Monday Market or so.

Give them your stock and ask them to sell at 50% less than other cloths are being sold in same segment. Your stock may quickly get sold out.

Really feel for you. Wish you good luck in getting rid of your stock. I cant imagine how many other people would have started a local business and end up in a similar dire situation.

I always tell people I know to support local businesses as much as possible - we are helping families that way not some millionaire CEO and venture capitalists sitting elsewhere.
