is withdrawn amount taxable?

Critic Critic

Essential requirements for online covid advance,

1. UAN must be known

2. Indian Mobile no registered with Adhaar & functional to recv OTP and Adhaar, PAN & Bank Account linked and verified with UAN and UAN KYC status showing as YES

3. Contribution getting credited to Account

So Covid advance may not be possible.

As long as Adhaar linked to active mobile no and Adhaar is linked with UAN, person can login to portal after reset of password and check the balance available.

Some conditions needs to be met.
You can get that info online

Easiest way for op to get money out is through EPF under the given circumstance,
Only thing he’ll need is a blank cheque and otp.

You’ll need
A picture of blank cheque, if he doesn’t has it (then raise a request from internet banking)
Access to his internet banking (to remove funds once credited)

Login to EPF website, employees section
Goto Online Services – Claim
Then enter bank account number to validate

Then you’ll get option to proceed to online claim.
In drop-down, select pf advance and choose
Outbreak of Pandemic under purpose

Select amount, upload blank cheque book and wait 5 days, then money will be in his account.
Then You can withdraw .

Don’t select other options, chances of rejection very high and very time consuming. You’ll end up wasting a lot of time.

Pro tip- they’ll not let you withdraw all the money, they say 75% ercentage can be withdrawn but they’ll not disburse that much. Only around 40-50%.

I am now waiting for third wave to remove some more funds.
Got two times, removed twice.
Had hopes from Omicron but no relief from EPF.

Let’s hope next  🌊 comes soon (if it ever comes)

Covid advance is the least of the following,

75% of balance

Three times Pay+DA

Actual amt requested

When there is no contribution getting credited, it becomes NCP where pay+DA = 0. Three times of 0 is also 0.

NCP means No Contribution Period i.e. where the member is not getting any salary so not getting any contribution. So account becomes non-standard. And if there is no contribution for more than 36 months, account becomes dormant.
The Covid advance is linked to max 3 months Basic+PA. If there is no contribution i.e. no salary, this factor becomes 0.

online withdrawl not posdible if

1  your PAn, aadhar are not linked to UAN

2. You bank account is not linked and verified.

3. If service period is more than 10years we get 10c certificate and not EPS amount. Only pf is given

4. If the service is less than 5years then pf is taxable as per your tax slabs. Even if you are unemployed and withdraw after 3 years, it is taxable as per tax brackets of last drawn salary basis or avg. of 3 years salary basis.

all others need to visit office and fill the forms and with draw.

If bank is linked and IFSC is wrong. Can it be corrected without reaching out to employer or can new account be added with correct IFSC

to withdraw, we need to upload our bank cheque. Also while filing online withdrawl application there is listed bank account check.

I believe your bank account number if fully spelt will have IFSC as part of it. Atleast icici has it.

very specific case, but 95% should come to your account.

I know all guess work, can you check if you can correct ifsc code while logging.

In any circumstances you dont need to contact your employer.

Depending upon the EPFO office dealing with the account and type of withdrawal applied 1-6 weeks.

Provided your UAN KYC verification is complete and your adhaar linked mobile is active,
if your account is directly maintained by EPFO, you can login online and do the change
if you are under exempted trust, you can raise request online but it will go to the employer portal for authentication

When was the last contribution/salary?

Also linking and verification are two different things.

Did he ever activate the UAN by going to the portal and linking with mobile & email? UAN must be activated. Adhaar, PAN and Bank all three must be linked and verified.

If UAN had not been activated earlier then first UAN needs to be activated. His old employer should provide with the UAN no.

Since he is outside India, having access to Indian mobile for OTP is essential.

Visit this link: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/membe...

There is a link “KNOW YOUR UAN” (below login block)

Its a 2 step process then:

  1. First you’ve to enter linked mobile no & validate it with OTP.
  2. After validating, you’ll have to provide 3 more details – Name, dob & verification id like Aadhaar/PAN/Member ID – see below screenshot

https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/758506/medium/837239411.png?1649608688

Now just submit and UAN no. will be displayed on the page itself. I tried with PAN and it worked just fine.

https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/758507/medium/837239422.png?1649608693

So 2 things are mandatory:

  1. Linked mobile number & access to it for getting OTP – and you mentioned this number is already available with family so no issues there
  2. PAN/Aadhaar
