Hot Deal Vodafone not able to send SMS to bank 7 or 6 digit numbers

I recharged for Rs.49 yesterday. I got Rs.38 talk time. I can call and send SMS to any mobile number and the call/SMS charges are deducted from the Rs.38 talk time.
But I cannot send SMS to bank 7 or 6 digit numbers like for e.g. 5676712 or 575750. It says SMS failed. I can SMS to that number from Jio.
Customer service said you need SMS pack. So I added Rs.12 SMS pack. Still the same SMS failed issue.
I am tired of calling the clueless customer service.
Anyone knows what could be the issue?

some numbers are charged irrespective of SMS pack or not. Like 1860 is carged in Airtel even with so called ‘unlmited pack’
u wasted another 12/-

There is no issue for charging for the SMS….let them charge. I have everything setup (call balance, SMS pack) so that they can deduct the charges.
But they are not even doing that.

Then some settings issue, restart ur mobile or try the sim in another phone.

Recharge with 10 Rs top up.

These SMS will deduct Rs.1.50 from the Main Balance. (Secondary balance and SMS pack will not work).

I just checked my account. The main balance is zero.
Why is it zero when I recharged it with Rs.49?
The Rs.10 top up says No service validity. What does that mean? Will it vanish after a day?

When we recharge with 49,79 or 95, you will receive the Talktime in secondary balance which will have validity and on expiry it will also expire if unutilised.

Top up plans will not have validity and it will remain in ur Main balance unless it is used (But be careful with automatic VAS activation from Vodafone / Idea). Recharge with minimum top up i.e. 10.

True, only 3000 mins for 84 days is less. Plus on phone when timer says 55-56 second, Ambani JI bills for 1min 1 sec

Also in Mumbai I am not getting good speeds on jio, my brother’s phone on Airtel has good speed.

Better shift to Airtel (chortel) with truly unlimited calls

Which other denomination add to the main balance? It doesn’t mention anywhere which denomination adds to main balance and which to secondary balance? I have checked, Vodafone website, MyVodafone app, Amazon recharge.

10, 20, 100, 1000 usually round figure denominations are for topup (main balance)
It’s not a thumb rule though
But the above mentioned ones surely add balance to main account
You can check the “Topup” category while browsing plans on paytm for these

If the no is not used for long time then voda stop sms service in no if its premium no or whatever reason. Register a complaint at 198 , tweet or send email.

The same issue faced my cousin 2 months back.

He had secondary Balance and sms pack, but msg not going. After recharging with 10 rs top up, the msg sent successfully.

There may be issue with message center no in the sms settings. Iam not sure.

If possible, change the sim to any other phone and give a try, preferably button phone.

I checked with another Vodafone number. Same issue.
SMS to Vodafone 5 digit number 59823 goes without issue.
I have filed a complaint with customer service. I have least hope anyone will even call back.

Same problem, unable to send to 575750. Customer executive told to change smsc number in setting. Nothing happens, Vodafone is the worst. Also have balance in account. They closed the complaint

Customer service is clueless. Changing/resetting SMS settings is the only solution to all SMS problems in the answer sheet provided to them by Vodafone. Its not their fault. They also have task deadlines, so they close complaints. Maybe its even auto closed. Customer complaints don’t even count in Vodafone’s scheme of things.

Customer care said there is no issue from their end and I should try to use the SIM in another phone.
I tried from another phone and it says “Can’t send messages with Vodafone IN, error 21”

Try changing network(like in 4g phone, switch between 4g & 2g or even 3g if still available). Also re-register on voda network by changing operator selection to manual & then manually selecting voda network.

Tried all you suggested. No luck sad
I don’t understand the logic of Vodafone suggesting to try another phone. If it was problem with the phone, any SMS would not work. This is specific to bank short codes. Further, I am able to send SMS to these banks from Jio from the 2nd SIM in the same phone.

Saw the following video for a Samsung phone about enabling premium text message. Not sure if this setting is specific to Samsung phones.

It indeed turned out to be a problem with the Phone (Redmi).
I tested my Vodafone SIM with two different phones, Samsung and Realme, and the SMS worked. I am clueless what’s the root cause. Have a plan to visit MI service center once covid situation improves. I am sure MI guys will straight away dismiss it saying its an operator issue, so need to take another phone and prove it on their face.

Thats Strange! There’s nothing to set except center number in sms. Did u try to put that aim back in the redmi phone to verify again?
